Surprisingly, so do I. Usually not my kind of food. But even just cooked in a little chicken stock, these are good. In the salad they were very good. From what I could tell it included (all diced) cucumber, red pepper, possibly some tomato, shallot, and feta cheese. With a very light vinaigrette dressing. So I made a spice blend of salt, pepper, coriander, Mediterranean oregano, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, and smaller amounts of cumin and cayenne for the shrimp. It turned out to be a pretty good match.

I'm sure the cinnamon rolls were delicious, but I don't think I could eat something that sweet for dinner. Sub an omelette for the rolls, and you would have had my kind of breakfast for dinner .

Charcuterie a la Costco:. Busetto prosciutto, a hunk of Comte cheese, and Kirkland green olives and artichoke hearts.

Wine is TBD.

Grilled chicken, marinated in buffalo wing sauce, grilled and then topped with ranch and cheese, plus peppers, carrots, and broccoli. For dessert, Entenmann's mini chocolate chip cookies and Imprint Origins Costa Rican Vanilla Bean Coffee Stout.

A Lebanese delight of grilled lamb and aubergine with spinach to go with a Lebanese wine tasting. I could just imagine myself in Beirut in happier days!

Yes, huge jars with huge pieces of artichoke hearts. They're really good.

Depends on how I feel! IMO, if it's savory and the ingredient combo tastes good on it's own, it makes a good omelette.

Last night, all we could muster was a salad with lots of vegetables. We were still pretty full from our lunch time cheeseburgers from Charlie Beinlich's (my craving for the last few days), for those of you that know the north-of-Chicago area.

Tonight: Chicken Tikka, rice, and naan. Wanted to give the Mr. Kook's sauce brand a second try and see if I still like it as much. Tomorrow night it's hot dogs and s'mores, as we're backyard camping with our young nephews (assuming the hurricane remnants don't flood the yard tonight).

dinner tonight will be BBQ Pork in the crock pot. I was going to slow roast it in the oven, but it's too hot for that.

Fun about Beinlichs - is it still cash only? Ive driven past it for years as Ill drive to Prairie Grass or Barnabys.
How does their cheeseburger compare with barnabys or hackneys?

Yes, cash only. Two cheeseburger & fry meals (one with bacon) cost us $27 even, so it's a little more expensive than you might expect.

I haven't had a Barnaby's cheeseburger, only pizza. I think Beinlich's is better than Hackneys, and to me Hackneys isn't as good as it used to be. But I think it's probably a matter of preference. Some might like Hackney's better. Beinlich's comes with ketchup, mustard, and pickle slices on the side...I add all 3. No lettuce, tomato, etc. You can get grilled or raw onion on the burger - for free I think. And then of course add things like bacon for an extra cost.

$27 for 2 is much less than what we pay in sf.

i forgot yo ask for a comparison with michaels red hots. I love their cheese fries but get them with a hot dog or salad. In a way, I havent had a burger in Chicagoland in a long time :-)

Dinner tonight will be lamb shanks.

We picked up a pack at Costco that were pre-seasoned with rosemary and garlic. We'll brown them in a dutch oven, then saute some mirapoix, deglaze with Zinfandel and chicken broth, then into a slow oven for a few hours.

Mixed green salad on the side for me - probably something starchy for the rest of the family to sop up the braising liquid.

I need to rummage through the wine stash to find something appropriately nice to drink.

Made chili yesterday, since I wouldn't have time today. It will be even better reheated (although I put a wee bit too much garlic)
Will make homemade cornbread muffins to accompany, along with strawberries and Cool Whip
