I am with you...we are having a heat wave too and I am dying. It is 84 already! 84!! I have fans on all over the house and so far the inside is cool but I know in a few hours I am going to want to pour ice on my head. My house really holds in the heat (flat black roof)......I want our nice low 70's back.

112 already in the West San Fernando Valley at 11:30AM with a forecast high of 117. It was a pleasant 80 on the patio at Tidbits by Dialogue in Santa Monica for dinner last night.

Any roof still holds in that heat. Its brutal. People here dont get how we Western Californians arent into uncomfortable and hot weather with challenges in air quality.

Exactly.

I'm not sure what I'm having for dinner tonight, but I cooked baked ziti for a friend who had a medical procedure on Friday.

fantastic! I like sauted scallion and sauted onion with steak. I need to return mushrooms to my life for steak accompaniment because I used to love cooking mushrooms to go with steak. Swoon.

Im so happy for you!!

It got up to 120.9 at 1:30PM at the closest NWS station closest to us. It has now "cooled off" to 117.9.

Tidbits by Dialogue is not an offshoot, it's their shared small plates operation on the second floor balcony while the tasting menu restaurant is closed due to Covid-19 indoor dining restrictions. This was last night's menu (PDF).

Definitely more than 4 oz, probably 8 oz.

Now that I'm reading the online menu more carefully, last night's steak preparation was slightly different than what's shown on the linked menu.

Agreed - you had mentioned mushrooms whereas the menu mentions chimichurri and sunflower petals. :-)

8-Oz is a nice size for a small plate!

Instead of paper menus, they give you a small card with a Flowcode that when scanned with a smartphone opens the menu on the phone. The menus linked from the website and the QR code are ever so slightly different.

I also had a glass of Fros and a glass of 2016 Two Shepherds, Grenache, Saralee’s Vineyard, Russian River Valley.

We flirted with a sea breeze off and on today, but mid-afternoon it was at least 85, a good 15-20 degrees above normal here on the coast. It's probably mid-60's here at 7:30pm, which likely makes our locale the envy of the Bay Area right now.

Grilled strip steaks for dinner alongside zoodles topped with Rao's marinara and a sprinkle of reggiano parmesan. I think I still have some Comte in the fridge to help me finish a nice bottle of Wine Smith Meritage.

Wish I had picked up a bottle of Suntory whiskey the last time I was at Costco. Would have been a bawler finish to a good day.
