Truth is 95% of non business flyers are looking for the cheapest rates. $150 to be more comfortable for a few hours is just not worth the normal fare difference. Why would you want to test your frequent flyers who are almost all business travelers.
I'm getting tired of this game and may start booking cheapest flight and get a credit card to get free bags. Not worth all this frustration anymore.
As they say thankyou to our medalain members but do they really mean it anymore.

As a stockholder, I am thrilled to see DL putting an effort into identifying PROFITABLE flyers. As a passenger I'd rather be seated next to a non rev that knows how to behave than some mileage running "elite" sucking down as many Woodfords as possible with their bare feet up on the bulkhead

I don't see that happening. If it did, DL would be competing on price alone (with the exception of routing). Their loyalty program is one of the worst in the industry. WN would look much more attractive with their free luggage policy. Status would be almost meaningless. Besides, empty seats up front mean lost revenue on full flights in Y.

DL won't lose all of my business. But it won't retain all of it, either.

Yes, because all non-revs are well behaved and all elites who receive upgrades have no manners. Generalize much?

Why is that "gross"? Unlimited refills means just that. Why should they feel bad about get a refill? I have even had wait staff offer a to go cup before leaving at some of the restaurants I have been to. I don't feel "gross" at all about accepting it.

Who said anything about manners? It has to do with excess and being tactful. People on these boards talk all the time about how they will have several drinks only if they're free or will get a meal even if they're not hungry. That's just gross. Reminds me of people who at cafs with self serve drink dispensers will fill up just before they walk out the door just to get their money's worth.

Yeah but you still haven't really made your point. One person doesn't wrap up your case that most people who are upgraded have less class than those who pay for it. Btw. I hope owning airline stock isn't a long term position or you will find you will have to rely on upgrades to fly up front. That is assuming you are not a non rev guy

manner (mnr)
n.
2. A way of acting; bearing or behavior.
I've paid for First Class plenty of times before. And guess what? On some of those flights I had a meal and several drinks. And they were all free. If I had to pay for the meal and $7 a drink on top of a First Class fare, I probably wouldn't have had a meal or drinks on the plane, opting instead for a superior restaurant meal at a similar price point. And then I probably would be less likely to pay to fly First Class... after all, the fewer benefits included with flying First Class, the less reason to pay for it. So I guess I'm excessive and tactless because I had a meal and drinks because they were "free"? Or is it only excessive and tactless if a person who got an upgrade does the same thing?
