I think what DL is looking for, amongst the DM masses at ATL, are those that have no checked luggage and those who are on paid J/F fares. I'm probably wrong, but thats my two cents.

It was very cool indeed. I got a few pics on my Blackberry camera. Will post as soon as I can get them uploaded to PB.

Nice pics! ^

Over on Airliners.net, there was a thread discussing the Porsche pickup, and one member said that LAX will be getting Porsches as well--they'll be sourced from local dealers. Given the amount of entertainment industry contracts DL has, this makes sense to me. Another interesting tidbit I found: DL used to do this for super HVCs, but used Ford Explorers instead--they've been "enhanced" () to the Porsches now. Another picture of the vehicles was also posted.

Congrats bud but without pictures, can we prove it

Maybe I'll see them tomorrow on the way home from SF. Doubt it but hey weirder things have happened.

They met my LAX-ATL flight tonight. Though I was not selected, my seatmate was, and based on conversation I had with him, I know he was a long time DL flyer, paid F, terminating in ATL.

it seems that paid F/J seems to be the common demoninator. However, terminating in ATL has nothing to do with it.

Raises a question, what if your flying on an award ticket in F/J through the mega hub? Will that bring out the magical Porche?

Yup, that's the porsche I saw whipping around ATL. Can't wait for a youtube video of a 388 hitting the porsche.

With Southwest's expansion into the ATL market, I can envision a commercial with one of their 737s rolling over the top of a DL-marked Porsche with some smarmy comment about bags flying free...

Have arrived back to ATL now at least 6 times now since the known beginning of this program and still no Porsche treatment...

I was flying Paid F through ATL (LAX-ATL-XXX) 2 weeks ago and though there was a Porsche pickup, I was not selected.

Thus it likely has more to do with terminating in ATL.

when I got the maagical Porche pick-up, I was flying lga - atl - zrh on paid F/J so there are some other common denominators that are used.

There's a thread on anet about this. A few folks over there seem to think its faster to take the train from T or A terminal to E. They seem to think its a huge waste of resources. Blasphemy I tell you! Jealousy gets you nowhere!

When i got the magical Porche pickup, I got from A terminal to E terminal in about 5 minutes. Plus, the escort to the delta skyclub was also a nice way to end the magical ride.

Six weeks after the Porsches were first announced on FT, the crack reporters at ATL's fishwrap have finally written about it:

Atlanta Journal Constitution:
Delta, Porsche partner to give rides at Atlanta airport
