Maybe they could have a CBP officer in the car with them, who could process your entry into the US right there in the Porsche--now wouldn't that be cool. That would even trump Global Entry by a long shot.

Were you in one of the cars or the SUVs?

I was hoping for one about 2 weeks ago arriving from CDG, but I guess I had 2 things working against me - -

1) I was traveling on the luxurious Tea fare class

and

2) Of course I arrived an an E gate - - and somehow, miraculously, my flight from ATL/PIT was departing from an E gate! So, I guess they figured I wasn't worthy!

3 things: you have to clear immigration and customs and re-check security between flights.

Woohoo! I got the Porsche treatment tonight. ^

Routing was AMS>ORD>ATL in C and F. AMS>ORD was KLM codeshare. After the ORD>ATL flight landed, there was a collective groan in the cabin as we realized we were going into B1. Of course for me that disappointment was to be short-lived...

When I got off the plane, saw someone holding a sign with 2 names on it. Can't believe it didn't register at first, and I had to do a double take to realize that one of them was mine! We waited around for a few minutes, but Pax #2 hadn't shown and most of the front cabin had long since cleared out. Too bad for that person because the driver decided to just take me.

Probably was a little disappointing for the driver since I already knew about the Porsche treatment, so I wasn't as taken by surprise as other people probably have been. The driver took me to me straight to the entrance of the South Daily lot. I assume the other mystery pax was terminating in ATL as well. I'm not sure how the driver would have handled it if it hadn't been the case, but I would have been more than happy to have dropped the other pax off at their next gate first.

A great way to cap off a great trip. For AMS-ORD I was in the upper deck exit row on the 747. Sped through immigration and customs at ORD with Global Entry and carry-on bags only, so I got to the SkyClub in T2 < 30 mins. after landing. And being so quick through my connection, I asked the SkyClub agent to SDC me to the 3:30 flight from my originally scheduled 4:45 flight, though this as we know is bending the rules.

So to recap what I learned from this:
  • Returning from a C/J itinerary may increase your odds.
  • They can pick up multiple people from a single flight. How they determine who gets dropped off first is unknown.
  • You can be selected even if you are terminating in ATL.
  • Faraway gates may factor into the calculus. The driver did make note of the fact that we landed at B1.
  • SDC didn't seem to throw things off. Of course, I have no idea if there would have been a car waiting for me if I had kept my original flight. For all I know, they could have been targeting the mystery pax and I just got lucky by SDCing onto their flight.

Saw the Porsche (Cayenne SUV) driving around the tarmac at ATL yesterday. Not for me, but I figured it was it. Looked really odd driving around among the trucks and baggage carts.

She Escorted me to the Porche and asked me if I was going to E terminal, to which I informed her I actually needed to go to Terminal A first to buy some electronics from a shop there. So, without hesitation, she took me to Terminal A first, brought me into the terminal, to the store where I bought my charger, then back to the car and off to Terminal E where she then escorted me to the Skyclub.

What a great job by Karen and Delta Air Lines. Thank you very much. My trip to Europe is off to a phenomenal start.

Now, I just gotta look out for that lightening!
NypdLieu - That's just awesome!

So true! You can always tell who are the really loaded ones -- quiet, unassuming, inconspicuous. I am always nice to the polite, modestly-dressed smiling-sheepishly-when-you-acknowledge-him/her Asian (esp Chinese) in FC -- I always bet if anyone can give you capital this individual would, if he/she felt like it ...... True worth does not need flaunting, it shows.

Got my VIP Treatment!

As I pulled into gate T1 at ATL last night, coming off my LAX-ATL flight, I saw the white Panamera swing around under the jetbridge and park. My heart skipped a beat and I felt my blood pressure rising. Was it for me?

Sure enough, as soon as I stepped off the plane, I was greeted by two gentlemen - Bud & Kevin - holding a sign with my name. I introduced myself and tried to play it cool, but I know I sounded like a goofball. They carried my bag down the stairs and I jumped in the back seat of the Porsche. I kinda wish I had my camera or my phone so I could have documented it.

Needless to say, Bud asked where I was parked and drove me directly to my car - giving me the spiel about the program and Elite Services on the way. He even asked about my trip, my Thanksgiving, and my holiday plans. I can only describe him as seeming like a friend who truly cared about me - which made me feel all that much better about giving my business to Delta. The family atmosphere is pervasive.

Anyway, it was a treat and I'm humbled by the folks at Delta for bestowing it upon me. Thanks so much to everyone involved!

Data points for those wondering: I'm a DM and have been PM+ for more than 7 years. I was on a SWU'd K fare from LAX.
