It would be nice if they had their own forum.

I will be getting Copa silver through my credit card. I know its not much but if I am using United miles for tickets with Copa how do I have the chance of getting upgraded? I fly at off times as I am 4 hours from pty so there are always a lot of business class seats available. Does United status match? Do my traveling partners have a chance at getting upgraded? Wife and 2 3 year olds? So that will be an anchor either way.

Going forward I will be earning Connect Miles on paid trips and some credit card spend so it will be less of an issue. But now I have about a million United and UR miles to use.

Which credit card do you have that awards Copa Silver?

Most of your questions are answered here:
https://connectmiles.copaair.com/en/...ntary-upgrades

For revenue tickets, you can add one companion to the upgrade list. Upgrades on award tickets are only available for Presidential Platinum members.

United does offer status matches, but typically not to star alliance partners:

-edit-
Nevermind, it looks like the credomatic infinite card offers silver status. https://connectmiles.copaair.com/en/bank-partners

Silver gets upgraded quite a bit. I was 10/11 CPUs as a silver on Copa in 2014/2015. If there are seats left and you are the only silver on the list at T-24, you will get upgraded. They give the seats away before selling/releasing the "auction" $$$ upgrades.

How much is the yearly fee for the credit card? Is it the one that comes with Priority Pass and all that? I could find no details of the annual fee anywhere on the informational sites

Thanks!

Thats very surprising as Priority Pass, depending on membership is generally $250-$400 per year

I was never made aware of the annual fee. I went in just for that card but had to open a bank account to backup the credit card. But I will live with the fee if true

I think the priority pass is limited to so many visits.

So award travel on Copa using United Miles I would not be entitled to an upgrade? That was the main goal but I like the other benefits as well.

Technically, you aren't. Unless you booked using Copa miles at the "Standard" level. However, upgrades have occurred in other unexpected scenarios as well.

Quick question. I'm a CM and UA Plat, purchased a fare to MVD on CM ticketed and paid to CM. I like the generous UG policy of CM. I may be short a few miles for UA 1K. If my PTY-LAX UG gets confirmed in advance at the 72 Hour Window, could I change my Connect Miles # to Mileage Plus and get credited to UA. I have heard and read conflicting stories. Has anyone have personal experience with this? Thanks and Safe Travels.. (And yes my L Fare credits 50% to UA).. Thanks and Safe Travels

Earlier this year I flew a CM-ticketed and operated itinerary and had initially my MP number in the reservation for the CPU eligibility and I was using RPUs for some segments. I was able to go into the reservation and change the FF# aftre the segments were flown but before they were credited and changed the FF# to A3. After they credited, I changed it back to UA MP for the CPU on the inbound and once again switched after flights completed. So, it was possible then. Now, with the new ConnectMiles program, I'm not sure but I figure the reservation system is the same, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I guess you could come up with a story and do it at the gate. But there's always the chance your Mileageplus # doesn't stick.

I wouldn't be too concerned with them taking away your upgrade.

You may be able to change the ff# in the record without issue even if upgraded. A major concern may be what fare bucket the upgrades are processed into.

Most upgrades and mileage tickets are in a fare bucket that does not earn credit to other *alliance partners. If that is the case you would lose the miles for either carrier.

ah i was worried about this -- it indeed looks like Z fares do not earn anything on UA, right? (and they're not reported as the original bucket?)

well, of course they say this here: "The award miles, qualifying miles, and qualifying segments earned are based on the fare class of the ticket originally purchased, not the upgraded class." -- but if anyone has any experience on how it's reported that'd be great.

It works as it is supposed to. Upgraded T fares earned 50% redeemable miles.
