I still have the binder from when I took geography 13 years ago. Such is the life of a social studies teacher. And I have a map mounted on the wall behind me in the office - if I do a webcam lecture, I can stand and point.

With?

Hellos, checking in.

I just became one of those college kids who answers questions for ChaCha - it pays next to nothing, but it does pay. Pocket change for when i'm bored instead of playing Farmville on facebook.

Who'd have thunk it?

Glad the mentor gave you feedback. It's a lot like writing grants - the awarding agency will tell you what they want to see if you ask ;)

He was very explicit in what to say and what not to say, and had high praise for your input as well. I have notes from the conversation that I need to sit and reflect on as to how to take the noted idea and turn it into text that flows appropriately with the theme of the statement that I decided to go with. Said theme has morphed into lauding the University and the program by way of creating a speech I would give upon receiving some yet-to-be-named hypothetical award from my hypothetical state or school district.

In one of the de-cluttering purges that my fiancee and I did to my bedroom and home office, I got rid of all of my course notes from my community college and undergrad history courses. I didn't think I would ever need them again at the time. :o

Greetings, Box from Providence RI. Quick trip up to see some clients yesterday and this morning. Now I'm trying to decide if I should see one more this afternoon. He hasn't returned my messages, so I'm debating whether it's worth it to pop in for a visit.

Intriguing. I'm going to apply later today.

For those of you who Tweet... just a FYI:

I'd have tweeted it, but alas, I don't tweet

Dear :rolleyes:town Tax Assessors Office,

I'd like to sell you my house. It's a charming Cape Cod on a quiet street with 3 acres of parkland right behind it that can't be developed. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it, and I'm sure you will too. I'll even give you a great deal on it.

For some reason you keep assessing it at 30% over what we paid for it less than a year ago. And you seem pretty steadfast that, that's fair market value. So go ahead, please buy it from me. I'll even sweeten the pot and sell it to you for 10% below what you assessed it at. Surely you can flip the house in a day and sell it for that 10% profit and put that money back into the town coffers. Everyone wins!

Yeah, I know. That's a pretty absurd proposition.

But no more absurd then you trying to tell me my house appreciated by more than $150,000 in 6 months in a down-trending market.

So please; either admit your mistake or put your money where your mouth is.

Sincerely,

belynch

P.S., can I pay my taxes in dollar coins? :D
