G'morning, Box.

Wife is doing better this morning. Got a cane to help keep the weight off the foot and is going to borrow crutches from an office-mate to facilitate getting around. Of course, being of limited mobility in NYC is a miserable experience. Her office is about a mile from the house and it is going to take a LOT of taxi rides to get her there and back in the coming weeks as she recovers.

Great to see everyone last night, albeit briefly and somewhat frenetically from my side.

Sorry to hear of her injury, and I can attest to the difficulty of getting around the city on crutches, especially this time of year, as I injured my ankle a year or so ago. The familiar landscape suddenly becomes filled with unfriendly obstacles.

Can't say that you're wrong, sir. However, the video material for the distance learning course I'm taking was not available in any other format.

What kind of course is it? Are you concerned that the content may be dated?

While in financial district which is fairly quiet during weekends, the LM San Francisco is a really nice property IMHO. It seems to have a good reputation for treating SPG PLT's well. I have always seemed to get a suite upgrade, and often the upgrades are pretty awesome. ^

I will keep that in mind, thanks.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Palace Hotel?

I am also thinking about The Westin San Francisco Market Street

After a brief stint in a wheelchair I'm now keenly aware when businesses make no effort to even allow space between shelves/displays and such for access. It's surprising how much people just don't think about something unless it's an inconvenience for them.

NO. Hertz FAIL. :mad::mad::rolleyes::mad:

Hertz also had a big fat FAIL a couple of weekends ago when a group I was part of spent about an hour trying to rent three cars at IAH. It started with a trip to the counter where we were told that our names were on the Gold board by the lot. We explained that we needed to modify the reservations and were told to go to the Gold kiosk in the lot, as we couldn't be helped at the normal desk. We went there and found it locked. It only went do:rolleyes:wnhill from there.

I don't care for it, at all. No upgrade and lousy check-in service when I had a stay there (almost exactly a year ago). Place was nowhere close to full.

Were they just stingy on the upgrades or do they have some special conditions like teh SVO properties?

Trustguy Feb 2, 2010 10:24 am

Upgrade just cleared LAX-HNL for Friday. ^

+1.

Small victory is aircraft swap from 73G to 739 w/ DirecTV.

Had confirmed upgrade in place, but still. TV + power = :D

My assessed value went down. My tax bill went up. Still trying to figure that one out...

Dear :rolleyes:town Tax Assessors Office,

I'd like to sell you my house. It's a charming Cape Cod on a quiet street with 3 acres of parkland right behind it that can't be developed. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it, and I'm sure you will too. I'll even give you a great deal on it.

For some reason you keep assessing it at 30% over what we paid for it less than a year ago. And you seem pretty steadfast that, that's fair market value. So go ahead, please buy it from me. I'll even sweeten the pot and sell it to you for 10% below what you assessed it at. Surely you can flip the house in a day and sell it for that 10% profit and put that money back into the town coffers. Everyone wins!

Yeah, I know. That's a pretty absurd proposition.

But no more absurd then you trying to tell me my house appreciated by more than $150,000 in 6 months in a down-trending market.

So please; either admit your mistake or put your money where your mouth is.

Sincerely,

belynch

P.S., can I pay my taxes in dollar coins? :D

Just stingy, AFAIK. I would concur with the assessment of the LM SFO. It is a wonderful property. It is very much a business hotel, and the decor reflects that (it reminds me more of a Westin in a reddish-brown color scheme than a typical LM). However, I found service and upgrades to be very good there, and the location is excellent.

Me too! I have a friend who said she made like $100 a week doing it - but that was with the old system not the new point system.

I thought you were restricted to Q400s? Someone alert the authorities... a CoCo General Member is getting the :-: treatment.

Intro to Anthropology, and not at all. Even if it is dated, the midterm and the final (which are on file and can be taken anytime) are based off of the tapes and the accompanying guidebook. It's a telecourse, so there's no way in hell that I'm going to drag this out over the next 12 weeks. Watch the videos, consult the book, take midterm. Lather, rinse, repeat, post grade. :-:
