Of course you likely do. However, the use of "both" implies some sort of sharing of or struggle for power, regardless of if it is equitably shared or not. There is no "both" in NJ.

Not really. Texas is a one-party state, divided between Democratic-controlled South Texas (and Dallas/Houston/Austin/El Paso Metro), and Republican-controlled everywhere else (including suburbs and exurbs of most of those metro areas). The parties tend to be in total control within those respective zones, with Republicans dominating the state overall.

There's not really any competition between the lobbyists and pols. It's more of a symbiotic/parasitic thing.

I dunno. Electing judges is how a state (let's call it "Shmensylvania") ends up with a judge on the Supreme Court who is best known for having run the court for miscreants at the Vet.

More proof that being a cult hero will get you further than the actual possession of brains.

Great idea, however if judges were to run for election and not be attached to a party position, it would require people to ::chill:: LEARN the positions of judges and maybe (Heaven forbid) do research and become (Good Lord, no) an informed citizen.

It is the little (or in this case, not so little) things in life that make it possible to survive, huh?

What is more likely, as you and I both know, is that name recognition would trump everything. It reminds me of the guy named "Calabrese" who repeatedly won elections in Northeast Ohio because his name sounded like "Celebrezze" (long-time mayor of Cleveland, I think from the days before the river caught fire).

Congratulations, I think. I didn't think you had been there long enough to accumulate that much stuff to throw out.

I believe the federal appointment system to be superior to the election method of selecting judges.

Thanks, but you're mostly correct. The trash can at my old desk was so tiny as to be useless for anything more than a few wads of paper. This one can actually handle water bottles and associated victual encasements.
