The upgrade with miles and copay is half as much as buying Z fares on the nonstop. It's definitely an option, and beggars are most certainly not choosers. I want the nonstop for a variety of reasons (BF service, comfort, never flew a 767) but if I can't get it then I will make sure to get a few new lines and dots out of the deal.

What about IAH-HNL? It is BF seats too.

Plus you can still earn miles on the upgraded fare, correct?

Due to weather, I don't have to show up at work until noon tomorrow - my office hours go until 1. ^

Steph3n Jan 31, 2010 10:08 pm

Maybe I should try actually sleeping tonight? I just don't have time till work is done :(

Back from GF's birthday dinner (a week early). I ate too much and drank too little.

IMO, the US flight should at least be a consideration for the return as it is the only Star carrier that regularly flies angled-flat seats up front.

What happened to the Mediterranean cruise idea?

Noted re: US flight. I wonder how long it will be before their 767s get the new and exciting Envoy seat...or did they already? IIRC it's a 762 and not an Airbus of any kind on that route.

Med cruise idea sunk as of tonight. We were going to do NCL's BCN roundtrip 7-day option, but their 2011 version of the itinerary dropped Monte Carlo. Dealbreaker for both of us...every other cruise line needs to be that much better of an option to get me to book away from the goodies I/we can get on Princess. Cutting Monte Carlo made the itinerary unpalatable. The other option is currently not affordable; 12 days on Princess from VCE to BCN.

Could, sure. I would prefer EWR but certainly won't complain if I have to go to IAH.

At the original fare bucket's rate, yes. I don't mind flying up front and only getting 100%.

Powerball is now offered in Texas. Think I'll try my hand at the $107 million jackpot. Texas could use another multi-millionaire winner within 1 week's time.:D

100%.

CLT-HNL is a 762 with the angled-flat Envoy seats. I believe only the 330s (starting with the 332s) will get the new Envoy "Suite".

Bummer on the cruise...

I would think the assertion of US having the angled-flat advantage still would be true by next summer, as CO's 767's will probably not be converted by then.

So much of the discussion hinges on whether or not I get into this graduate program. I'm really quite tired of feeling like I'm unable to make a move. At least the upside is that regardless of if I get admitted to the grad school or not, I only have about six more weeks of not knowing my short-term future.

I'm going to bed. I'd like to be well-rested for tomorrow (today). To those that are attending, safe travels and I'll see you all there or earlier in some cases. For everyone else: goodnight all.

Trustguy Jan 31, 2010 10:54 pm

Good night all -- post 2900 as well. It is back to the office tomorrow.

I had an absolute blast and learned plenty in the process. Many thanks to our gracious hosts! The drive back to Manhattan was in record time.

I managed to make up for the drinking once we got back in the city. Scott6067 and I met up with Steve GadFly in the East Village to have a few drinks.

Can we get a ITA class held in IAH? Once I get a job, I would love to learn.

icurhere2 Jan 31, 2010 11:12 pm

Got online and realized I hadn't loaded the questions for one quiz
