Yes, indeed he does! My builder swears he is bi-polar because one minute he is talking perfectly nicely to him and the next second he's spitting, cursing, stomping, around for no apparent reason.:confused:

 you're absolutely right, which is why I vent in the Box rather than marching down to Borough Hall

Absolutely.

FiOS rules. Fiancee got it and it is insanely fast, on top of being some of the best customer service I have ever come across. If it's good enough to impress my other half, you know it's good. Plus, according to my understanding, the FiOS phone reps speak clear English. That in and of itself makes me want to evangelize the brand.

Wish we had FiOS.....:( I think we have to wait at least another year before it comes to our town

Which borough is this so I can know to avoid it? :-:

The only time I ever had to deal with my local permit and inspection group was when I had a deck put in and there was 0 issue of  or  and was generally .

I just got notified that it is available in my complex.

Think I'll mosey on down to Lake Brit to see what's going on down there. I went this morning and there is a pile of stone about 10 feet high in the street. Might be there for quite some time if the inspector doesn't give us the go ahead at noon.

Oh yes, how rude of me.

Morning B:rolleyes::-:

They screwed my wife over pretty bad when we moved from Murrieta, CA. We closed the account correctly and the rep noted it in the account notes but could not complete the close because of some  in the Verizon system that day. Three months later, we get a note from a collection agency.

I drafted a letter in her name that explained exactly what our rights were and what they were to do to solve this issue, and that it was not to be reported to credit agencies until the clarifications were obtained.

Here we are a year and a half later buying a house, and there isn't a peep of anything on her credit report. :D So it all worked out in the end, but their customer service left a lot to be desired for me.

Moreover, I was not a fan of the MoCA system they rolled out for inter-home signal distribution, requiring you to use (and pay for) their equipment instead of doing DOCSIS like everyone else in the entire world running on coax. They also blocked several ports and had crap TV signal quality, though that issue was specifically caused by the local fiber network and not Verizon as a whole.

All in all, I probably would not chose FiOS unless it were the only high speed option available, even though I hate Time Warner with a fiery passion that burns from deep within my soul.

You guys smell that? I think there's a milestone nearby. :-:

The prosecutor who handled my last traffic ticket was the mayor two towns away from where he was the prosecutor. I almost don't care if they take salaries for multiple part-time gigs, but the benefit package has to be limited since that is far more expensive.

I have to tell you, in all honesty, that I really enjoyed living in my town up until this fiasco. We did an addition to our old house about 8 years ago and had zero problems with the inspectors/permits, etc.

It seems it is just this new inspector that they have hired. Back then, the inspector was on staff. Now they are sub-contracted and it seems they just don't give a damn, and make it a mission to simply pi$$ off all the homeowners and contractors in town simply because they can and they know they have us by the short and curlies...

I'm thinking of getting rid of cable (currently provided through Comcast) and replacing it with internet service, but I'm not sure who to go with or what type of service to get. I don't have a landline, nor do I want one; I currently have a cell phone through Sprint.

Any thoughts?

Naked DSL through ATT? Cable internet through Comcast? One of those USB internet modems through Sprint?

We have DSL through AT&T with no problems. However, I have a friend who has Cricket's USB modem for $42/month with unlimited data. He is very happy with the service in and around Houston. I believe it works in major cities as well. If we didn't have a phone service for our alarm system, I think we would go with that option.

Your best bet is either WiMAX through Clear (dunno if they are in Houston yet, they just hit here in Austin) or Cable/DSL of your chosing.

Thanks.

Clear is total crap (at least hear in SEA). All it is is a 3G cell modem.
