Aloha box.

So here's the million dollar question: Does 1k trump CO Plat on CO operated flights?

And/or when will CO announce their 100k tier?

I think this is a positive move as E+ on UAL is the cat's meow. :-:

And now we'll have eleventy billion new threads asking about stuff that has been answered in the main announcement thread.

no.

For travel on Continental, the clearing order will be:

1. Continental Platinum Elite
2. United Global Services
3. United 1K
4. Continental Gold Elite
5. United Premier Executive
6. Continental Silver Elite
7. United Premier

On CO metal, CO Plat trumps all, but UA GS and UA 1K trump CO Gold.

Meh, there is only one thread that matters, the rest are easily ignored. :-:

Fortunately, CO Plats will trump both GS and 1K. On UA metal, CO Plats fall behind GS, 1K and Premiere Exec.

E+ is definitely a big positive, but I think upgrade chances are only going to drop from here...

Yes, we got lounge access at both HKG and TYO Conrads. The view from the HKG was AMAZING but not so much at TYO (lobby bar overlooks bay). Service at both was top notch.

I think CO elites win out on this change with access to E+. This elite just did a little dance in his office!

Does E+ tend to fill up quickly on elite heavy routes?

Steph3n Nov 17, 2009 8:25 am

CAL is about to surpass AMR in market cap.

I would imagine so, though my biggest "need" would be on international routes rather than the trunk routes.

In any event, this is really a net positive for us. Continental elites sitting in Economy Plus or United First? YES WE CAN!

Take a bow, Heathrowdamus.

All those snarky UA posters who said "not a chance" or "don't hold your breath" regarding E+ have been disproven!

The part I don't understand is CO Plats being behind Premier Execs (is that 1P?).

The big plus is 34" of pitch on the longhaul flights.

Same here, I suppose. Although, being EWR-based makes it difficult to consider anything but CO for most international travel.

The E+ seating is definitely a big win for CO elites (and a slap in the face for UA elites)! On the other hand, I am unsure about how the domestic upgrades will play out - only time will tell.

Someone should let Mike know so he can change his signature. :D
