We did a Heathkit computer that had a hex-8 keyboard for data entry. A bit later we got a cassette drive (C30!) so we could save our Lunar Lander, Horse Race and Hammurabi games. ^

Now I'm really going to bed....will check for a winner in the morning.

I have no idea. Ask me about obscure folk songs (though Midnight Special is anything but obscure) and I can tell you. Ask about movies/actors/actresses? Forget it.

In case anyone is in the greater Houston area this or next Thursday, they have free chic-fil-a sandwiches from 5-6PM. The link is here: http://cfahouston.com/ and they've had some TV spots, too.

Some of the old technology stories I come across in The Box made me wonder if some of y'all weren't around when the wheel and fire were being perfected. :D

Sounds like an H-8. That keyboard was generally used only to get the machine running (or to debug the machine code), though.

Twilight Zone The Movie when they were carting him off to the loony bin after the monster on the wing. :-:

If they made that movie (vignette?) today he'd end up being FAM'ed (and not in the usual way). :-:

I think all of the IT guys and policies at my work come from back then, too. A few examples are: No Blackberries 'til 2008 because they are "insecure", can't use flash driver > 512 mb due to "security concerns", new laptops every 5 years, etc.

There'd be no glory in that.

H-8 sounds right. It ran pretty well.

If you downgrade from Amex plat to gold do they change your card number? I suspect so. What a pain ... but think of the money I'd save...

No. I've been both Green and Gold with the same number.
