The whole 89K thing plumb evaded me. Now, it kind of reminds me of the end scene in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.' Draw first, or draw second?

Time to go home. One more day of this position ...

That's it for Box trivia night. If there's really a desire to put one of these together for the EWR crowd as xyzzy had asked about, I'm all for it. We need a big enough house, a good pizza place, and lots of beer.

I'm signing off, too. Fun evening, CMike.

I'm impressed -- I have a couple of friends who write pub quizzes and I know the effort that goes into these. This was fun.

Bombardier says new CSeries gives it five-year jump start on competitors

The article says that they are getting their weight reductions from the use of aluminum lithium composite. So I guess Bombardier doesn't care about the visible but not consequential cracks that aluminum lithium displays when drilled/riveted? This should be good...

Oh, before I forget. If you have not read it, check out the book "Day of Deceit", title playing on "Day of Infamy." It's a non-tin-foil-hat, documented narrative of the US obtaining the Japanese fleet codes prior to Pearl Harbor.

Of course, the breaking and its role at Midway have been disclosed, but never, ever, will there be an official admission of the fact it was cracked before Pearl.

I was on the other side of debating this book in an undergrad seminar. I never did read it then, since in my wisdom I had chosen to read "At Dawn We Slept" and its massive sequel.

Fiancee is dead to the world next to me, and The Box called it a night early. I'm out.

I had my first "But where are the customers yachts" moment on the boat tour at Pearl Harbor, when I first realized that all the carriers and all the modern heavy cruisers were at sea that day, and the battleships lost were all 1890/1900's vintage. Then, I read that the Secretary of State had kept Ambassador Nomura waiting with his declaration of war until official word was received that the attack had begun, giving Nomura a "f**k you," cultural and diplomatic faux pas.

I guess it could all have been lucky, though...
