Black Hawk Down has to be one of the most gripping movies I've ever seen.

I met one of the guys who was actually there, in the real event, several years ago at a business seminar.

The movie takes some dramatic license in some places. The book is many times more enthralling than the movie. One of the pilots involved in the real thing recreated his actions for the movie.

A handful of the 1993 vets are on the lecture circuit. Most of any, who I would want to see is Mike Durant. His personal memoir has a few moments in it that made me stop and cry.

Which, as of March 2003, reports to DHS. Same parent agency as TSA! :-:

:D

It's a great ironic question. The Secret Service, at that time, had no protective mission. That didn't come until after McKinley was killed. It was founded for the mission it still does today - eradication of counterfeiting and associated financial crime. The Secret Service headquarters in Beltsville, MD has the world's largest known collection of ink. They hold on to samples of nearly every known type of ink to run comparisons against what they find in investigations.
