My problems is that I already know from my VZW mobile broadband, that the signal is not that strong in the places I travel to in VA & COS. So, I really may not have thought this through, completely!:eek:

I have the same issue as well. I've stayed in hotels where there's a very poor wireless signal but there is Wi-Fi, or at least a wired connection I can plug my travel Wi-Fi router into, so that I have a strong signal in my hotel room. I've also found Wi-Fi to be great for avoiding excessive data and voice charges when traveling in other countries.

I had a BlackBerry with no Wi-Fi for two years and didn't feel like Wi-Fi would be something I found of a lot of use. Since switching to a device with Wi-Fi, and UMA, I'm not sure I could ever give it up.

SFO to EWR thrice in five days and once EWR-SFO, actually.

Voice, perhaps, but I've got Skype on my NetBook for that if I really need it. And I rarely use voice when out of the country.

For data I get unlimited at $65/month, prorated for only days I use it. I have no need to deal with finding hotspots or dealing with paying hotel WiFi just for that.

My replacement (well, interim replacement) said she had been told we're prohibited from having Skype on our government laptops - I fixed that issue ... And I only use Skype out of country (with my dorky Microsoft LiveChat headset that came from the LiveSearch Club).

Anyone see the background photo of Angkor Wat on bing.com/ today? That it survived the spillover fighting and bombing of the Vietnam war and the Khmer Rouge is a miracle. There's a little war damage visible in the photo, though, I believe. That is a place I would really love to see.

May 1, 2010; always the first Saturday in May (unless that's the weekend of Mother's Day). One word - NetJets (open house at Eppley for shareholders).

Is the event all weekend? Would someone flying in book Friday-Monday?

Cargo? MX? Consolidation of two flights?

In other news, I found a great desktop pen for those of us who wish to send such a message.

I was hoping to plan 2010 myself, but now it looks like Ms. Enmascarado Jr. will be arriving sometime around March 2010, which threw a wrench on my existing plans for the rest of this year too!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was about to post my list of not-visited states when it went down. My list:
  • Alaska
  • Arkansas
  • Iowa
  • Kansas (I've been to the Kansas City airport, but it's in Missouri)
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Nebraska
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma
  • South Dakota

I've flown extensively over all of these states except Alaska.

I've flown over Alaska, but not landed there. It's my only state left and I need to complete that soon. Off the top of my head, BL JR has been to 20 states. I believe she'll hit all 50 at a much younger age than I (though I hit the continental 48 by age 16 so not too bad).

I haven't found a reason yet to go to Omaha yet, either.

The only reason I've been to Nebraska was I had to go to Lincoln for work back in 2001. I spent about 24 hours there.

LOL! It's really not THAT bad! I lived in OMA for a few years in my 20s and other than the fact that my neighbor was in the witness protection program and then killed (lived in an apt. complex and he lived down the hall), it was fine. It has some good things (Jazz on the green at the Joslin Museum, which also does some very nice exhibits being a highlight) and some great restaurants. EAR, where I grew up and moved back to, a bit limited.

Off to pack for the big trip to the med center. Posts after tonight will be from a drug induced haze.

There are some events Friday and Sunday but Saturday's the core.

Like someone with even less mental capacity (I don't have much to start), I thought it reasonable to drive from the BNA burbs to OMA after working more than half a day. I hit the Illinois / Missouri border (e.g. "STL") at precisely 5 p.m. Fortunately, my soon-to-be schedule never involves teaching on Fridays. And I snagged a room for something like $40 a night last year with my state employee discount.
