On the subject of beer, while at the Brickskeller I looked for a few unusual beers I've missed over the years. The one I long for the most is Prior Double Dark. I've not seen it in about 25 years. I used to drink it in a place in NY State that was just over they NJ state line. A Google search reveals that the brewery, C Schmidt & Sons, closed in about 1984. Further research tells me that Saranac Black Forest by The Matt Brewing Company is the same stuff with a new name :p Sadly, it's not on the online Brickskeller beer menu.

Did tasting it again bring back any fun memories?

ETA: I need to read closer - perhaps the brewer can ship to you?

Does anyone know if OnePass can provide members with printouts of flight history over the entire course of one's membership?

Great question - maybe one for Scott to answer offline. I know there are a ton of business flights that I do not remember since I joined OnePass in the 90s.

hmmmm, IAH-LHR L fare for $693/all-in for 9/26 with immediate return... 19,336 EQMs = $.03/mile.

Going into the tree killing business are yah? I think Scott mentioned this awhile back. I don't remember if he said it was possible or not.

When I was out in SFO last summer I went out to supper with a friend who had purchased the new gen iPhone earlier that day. After a couple bottles of wine at supper we decided to go out for more drinks.

About 20 minutes into drinking at the new venue (we were thoroughly sloshed at this point) she has the startling realization that she lost her iPhone and at that moment the cabbie appeared and handed over her iPhone. My faith in humanity was restored. :-:

Morning box. This new job is kicking my . I can't believe I didn't sign on to FT until close to n:rolleyes::rolleyes:n.

The refurbed 734s I flew on were fine, too. Exceptionally friendly cabin crew. When dan1431 and I flew PHX-PDX, the FA practically hovered over us to constantly refill our Pomegranate Martinis (which are excellent).

Sounds like they've improved some since I flew them last November. The 734 I was on had definitely not had any refurbishment, and looked awful inside. I'm still not a fan of their sucky F pitch though, or of the plastic cups.

I have heard that the unrefurbed 734s are rough. I don't mind the plastic cups. They hold more booze than the glassware on other carriers. Also, I found the pitch to be okay (but I'm a couple inches shorter than you).

That's great to hear. So far no replies to the messages we sent to his yesterday, and given that device's awful battery life, I'm sure it's on the verge of dying now, if it hasn't already.

He's off to the AT&T store right now on his lunch break to buy a replacement. If the old one shows back up, we'll sell it on Ebay and try to recover some of the expense of replacing it. His mood is still pretty awful over this. Poor guy is really beating himself up over leaving it in the cab.

I've not tasted it again. I just found out that someone is making it again ... so I'll have to find some. We used to get this stuff by the pitcher. It was cheap and good. I think pitchers were $3 or so. Sadly, the place I used to get it closed down. At the end, they relied on the fact that the NJ drinking age was higher than that of NY. The place was literally on the state line. (from the linked picture it's clear that something new has been built on the site).

When the drinking age went to 21 everywhere, there was no reason for anyone to cross the border -- despite the excellent and free live entertainment. I recall being there two nights in a row. One night it was completely packed. The next night it was a ghost town. The age in NY was raised from 19 to 21 in 1985. In NJ it was raised from 19 to 21 in 1983. I guess the death knell for the place came that night in 1985 when both states were suddenly at 21.

Pre departure drinks on INTL BF are plastic cups :-:

Morning, Box. US helped me out with some milestone flights this weekend. PDX-PHL put me over 900K lifetime BIS, and PHL-FLL was my 700th flight.

Amazing how I have nearly 200 more flights than you do, but you've got nearly 300,000 more miles. I fly way too many short hops.

Actually the Prime Minister is one of the featured speakers. I wish I didn't have to work that day. :(

Kyrgyzstan is, I'm told by some in the disability rights area, by far the most progressive of the Central Asian republics in terms of advocacy and rights, and by others that it is the friendliest and safest of those states as well.

Were it me, I would go, even if it meant a fudged sick day or personal day. Goes almost without saying: ground floor contact with emerging states' governments often pays lasting dividends.

There are occassions when I'm not thrilled by CO's F pitch, especially if I have a passenger in front of me reclining. But I did find US's to be more restrictive; it's about like the pitch on NW's DC-9s.
