Not initially, no. This is the biggest issue: what to put on there that we feel we can do better than somewhere else out there. Can we do CC better than Pandy's vision for it? Truthfully, I doubt it.

Have you used Microsoft Flight Sim 9? How did it compare to XPlane?

I don't know about never, but if it does come back I'm not so sure that it will be the same. A small group of FTers already started a similar site and they are willing to guarantee one's same handle on the new site if you can prove ownership.

Putting the liability issues aside, I just don't see compelling value there. If you're going based on ad content then the people who are doing CC trades are not those who will be clicking on ads. Plus, the ads are all going to be travel related and when they see where the clicks are coming from they're going to be pretty pissed in a hurry, inviting the liability issues. If you go for some other revenue plan then you're probably more liable for enabling the trading.

I don't see getting into that business as a good idea.

I disagree, Pandy only wants people to post things they are willing to give away, not barter. What I really liked about CC (before it was shut down) was that I could go in and do an even trade for miles, vouchers, drink chits, and club passes. What I did not like was the miles for vouchers aspect. Most of the time these were clearly favoring one party and they would never be executed. The even swap with possibly a sweetener to make the deal go through was nice to have.

I see your point. Do you have a link for this other website that was started?

Actually, it's the last model year that the Ford Escort was sold through dealerships (I have a 4 door sedan)*. Ford finally got the thing right (approaching 182,000 miles), so they immediately replaced it with the Focus.

* Ford continued to manufacture the precise same Escort model for a few more years but solely for rental fleets.

With this form of "karma" you describe (apparently, varies from that provided in the old Coupon Connection), there's going to be a day in some program where you'll end up less than 10 points away from an award.

Now i have to figure out what to do with it......

I still haven't figured mine out - may as well get the AL phone number that's the same as my TN cell. Although there were a number of "Hyatt"-related numbers available.

Been sitting here doing followup sales calls, but I need to get myself going and run the out of house errands that need to be done.

My wife's Camry recently celebrated it's 14th "birthday". It *only* has about 140k on the odometer, so it's got many years ahead of itself. It was her grandmother's until 2000, so it has a bunch of dents, but still runs fantasticly! She only puts about 3-4k on it per year and swears she'll run it into the ground instead of selling/giving it away, so I'm sure she'll still be seen in that thing for a long time to come, unless someone rear-ends her again.

Of course. SFO - LHR on a VS A343 is simply unpossible otherwise. Cruise is the boring part of flight sims anyway; takeoffs and, for me, landings are where it is at. I enjoy shooting a tough approach such as the one ALCO brought up at VQPR. I figure any landing you can walk away from and have no damage to the plane is a good one, though the banking degree does leave someone's lunch on the cabin wall, I'd imagine. :)

After reading my post, I think I inferred that I was using or had used XPlane, and for that I apologize. I have flown exclusively in Microsoft Flight Sim 2004. I do have a bunch of add ons for it though, including a 737-800, 737-900, 757-200, 767-200, and 777-300 in CO livery. I recently added a EMB-190 to my fleet options under a B6 livery because the guys who made it did a good job on the virtual cockpit. Of all of them, I enjoy the 737-800/900 the most, I think.

I would get the newest release of Flight Sim if I had a computer with enough RAM and graphics capability to handle it. I remember someone on The Box lamenting once that Microsoft always seemed to put out a Flight Sim product that was beyond the capabilities of the machines in people's homes and in stores. I once tried to takeoff in a 747 from ACY and for whatever reason could not climb past about 2,000 feet. I ended up flying straight out over the ocean from RWY13 and making a perfect 180-degree turn to come back onto 31. If I do buy it, I need to go back to square one and take ground school.

Oh, Mackieman - there is the option in FM to check off a flight as "Virtual/simulator". Just sayin. :D

Call them back and tell them that as soon as you hang up the phone with them, you are calling the BBB. You've not seen an oil company truck move like the roads were lined with their product until that point.

The last time I took Flight Sim seriously, I hopped in a Mooney Bravo and went to ISP. I shorthopped thru the Northeast and down the East Coast and around FL, eventually making it all the way to Lawton, OK after about 40 hours of seat time. The hops were so short that I did it in real time, the most fun of them being the first day because I hit JFK, LGA, EWR, TEB, PHL, ACY, BWI, IAD and DCA all in the same day. Also fun was the one long cross-country hop I threw in: TPA-MSY at night, at a filed altitude of about 12K.

FS2004 runs decently on older hardware. I have FSX as well and you do need some horsepower to get it running well. But, the stock 737-800 in FSX makes my special places tingle; it's a great virtual cockpit experience.

As far as your 747 not climbing above 2000 feet, that's an odd one. I don't particularly care to fly the 747, behemoth that it is, but I've flown TPE - LAX in one without issue. Just have to remember that you can't cruise up to FL410 with a full tank of gas, heh.

And I thought about putting FM lines in for my simulator runs, but that doesn't seem really fair, especially since I use the time accelerator so much during cruise. The map would rival CO Insider's, though. :D How many other people have landed a 737 on a 2000ft runway?
