I have not, but the  factor is never so prevalent for me as it is when the oft moronic ATC clears two airplanes for landing with less than two miles spacing causing a go around or when AI aircraft roll to a complete stop about a mile from the next taxiway and crawl along at 20kt causing a go around or when departing aircraft are cleared for takeoff when I'm on short final causing a go around.
I really, really hate go arounds. A) Learjets are not tailhook equipped. You've not known frustration until you try that mission. It's fun, in a twisted sadistic sort of way. You'll either pancake into the back of the carrier or bolter off the deck about 40 times before you get it right, but it's worth playing with. One mission that I could never get right was the inverted ribbon cut. B) Go-arounds and touch-and-go's are my favorite part of flying in a dense airspace. To me, it's a mental challenge to reconfigure the aircraft as quickly and safely as possible.

Camrys are damn reliable appliances. Not really fun to drive, but you can be sure of getting from point A to point B in comfort, roominess, frugalness, and most importantly, reliability. I had an '89 Camry that was a hand-me-down. I wouldn't have traded it in, had I not moved up north where I wanted AWD for snow driving, not ever having lived/driven where it snowed.

My thoughts exactly regarding the Camry. It's about as vanilla as it gets, but it's generally a decent performer. It does annoy my OCD-ness that Toyota puts 2-3 LCD panels in most of their cars and they are always of different fonts and colors. For example, everything in my Prius rental this week matches, except the clock, which is green, while most of the other displays are blue. Huh? I once had a Camry that had four LCDs, and all four used different colors and fonts. Come on Toyota, make it match! Otherwise, it just looks cheap. And Toyotas generally aren't cheap.

You've sold me. I'll be finding and flying that mission when I return from my interview. It should be noted that I hate flying the Learjet and that I find it mostly useless past flying through the Grand Canyon 100 feet above the river bed in it.

It's in the Missions screen, IIRC about four or five down the list. The first mission is the night approach to SFO in the 737. That one is cake. Good luck on all counts. Try not to make a smoking crater of the interview, as you will most assuredly make a few dents in the aircraft carrier.
Thanks again to each of you for your good wishes; I'm off in a few minutes. Have a good un'. |

I have until Thursday night (well, Friday really) to get a weekend trip to Maine planned. Any suggestions? It's one of the few states I've never visited. We're flying into BOS late Friday night, spending the night there, and flying out of there around 7:30 PM Sunday night.

Stamps.com needs new marketers. I get a letter with a gift card attached. It's big letters - "$10 gift card ($5 postage, $5 supplies)". Was about to visit the shredder. At the very bottom of the letter in normal-sized text, there's a "sign up now and we'll add a $50 scale and another $40 in free postage". Which is the more compelling statement

Finally, the oil tank guys are here. About time, too. They are working in 90 degree heat in a house that has no utilities, is full of spiders, and all sorts of other critters, cutting open a 275 gallon oil tank that is half full of oil. Yeugh!
And, I'm happy to note that Elizabethtown Gas did a sterling job of getting my gas line removed in a week, when customer service told me it would be a minimum of 6 weeks. I had had some "issues" with the Indian call center, and eventually spoke to a US supervisor who sorted it out and got me in under the radar. It was completed last Thursday, only a week after we spoke - yee ha! I just called her to tell her what a credit she was to ET gas, and to ask for the name of her manager so I could write a glowing commendation letter for her. After all, we are quick enough to write to complain, so I feel when you get good service, you should write to commend. (I also did the same when CO Insider enabled me to receive a satisfactory resolution to my companion non-upgrade from Bonaire - the agent he assigned to help me was fabulous and I wrote and told him so.)

Camden is a cute little town, very old-picturesque-New-England with some nice shopping and dining options. It's about 3.5 hours' drive from BOS. I have never stayed overnight there so I don't know anything about accommodations, but if you're into sailboats, lighthouses, and/or nice views, I highly recommend taking a sail on this: http://www.appledore2.com/ (bet the sunset cruise would be nice!)
