Finally back in the Box after a long week of "gettin er done"!
First order of bidness now that I am back - I need suggestions for HKG, including must see sights, clothiers for wife and I, and most important, food! We are doing HKG with a stop in NRT on the way home, departing 2 weeks from yesterday. 2 little side notes, if you are gonna do the peak or the Big Buddha, go early to avoid the crazy lines. ( Great views of HKG arrivals and departures on the sky gondola on the way up/down to Buddha) |

For reasons I still don't necessarily understand, I've joined twitter. I don't know that I really understand why I'd want to have an account, but I'm planning on using it for my crazy B6 runs and some other things. We'll see how well that goes.

AS used to have an award where one got an Amtrak sleeper compartment up the Pacific Coast and a flight back for 20,000 miles ...

Looks like you have a porn site following you. Emily416k used to follow me until I blocked her. I am tired of this porn on twitter. Kids are using twitter and don't need to be exposed to this. Can you tell I am a parent now?

Wirelessly posted (HTC-8500/1.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6))
Just wanted to let others know that posted tonight (may have been posted earlier) The C PCs will be having shorter hours. TW the C south I believe will only be open 1 to 9. Is this changing elsewhere? Do we need to start a thread with new PC hours? |
I just found something to add to the domestic wish list...crazed Eagles fan that I am. If one were to take the Southwest Chief from Chicago to LA, there is about an hour-long stop in Winslow, Arizona. The corner scene described in the Eagles song has a memorial park in town that is less than a half-mile from the train station. :D:D
(Some people get their jollies from EliteAccess carpets. Me, I do goofy stuff like this. :p) |
Don't need a train to go to Winslow ... Besides, that stop could be very delayed and then abbreviated (if trains from CHI to WAS are any indication).

Amtrak doesn't run on time at all, so planning anything around stops simply would not work.
Also you can't get off and get back on later, as later may be days :D well, I guess you COULD, but you would pay for each ticket. I enjoyed my transcon sleeper car trip, I'd rather do it alone than with family again, but it was fun :) |
Had dinner at Joey Tomato's here in Calgary. Ordered the ahi tuna salad. Forgot that this wasn't a good idea in a land-locked area. Sure enough the tuna was meh but the salad was decent.

Oh, in other talked-about travel news, on the ride home from DC last night I found out that Steve GadFly is a golfer, and should we ever put together the BHM golf outing that I had mentioned, he would be happy to burn National points to rent a vehicle suitable for a foursome and clubs. ^ |
:D watching Simpsons. Bart says "Dad will never miss an open bar with hot wings."
