C'mon...did you really expect people to actually read the announcements in that thread rather than just asking questions that were already answered? ;)

I specialize in wireless data products, mostly. I have either led or been part of the design team for three different 3G router products in the last couple of years, which includes specification and requirements documentation (systems engineering), formal test/QA, interoperability (example: Cisco with VRRP), and application/sales engineering of said products to customers (creating solutions and so forth). I have a formal test background as that is where I got started. I also work with product teams to define engineering requirements for electrical and mechanical designs.

That said, I can do most IT stuff with a bit of a learning curve simply because I don't mess with things like Active Directory terribly often. I've probably messed around with most things at once time or another but don't have specific resume items for most of them since my work experience didn't include them.

You may as well sit on the cash in an interest-bearing savings account until the bill is actually due. It might only add up to a couple bucks over the course of your minting efforts, but that's more than you started with.

I had considered that, but this order is already in my checking account. Future orders will go this route.

Well, the NA coins are limited to $24,750 per order. Having that number of dollar coins at your place of residence would suck.

And it's a guaranteed way to get a flaming bag of poo from your UPS guy. My UPS guy turned his father onto the coin thing; he knows me now after two coin deliveries and one unrelated delivery in the last 10 days.

Exactly. Who wants to deal with ordering the coins, hoping they don't get stolen in transit and are delivered properly, making sure the count is correct (which is often not the case according to anecdotal evidence in the Box), and schlepping them up to a bank during normal banking business hours for a couple of thousand miles a pop. I guess if youre a week at home type who can go to a bank during the day, it might be easier, but I'd rather just buy a $200 transcon to net 12k rams. Now, if I could buy 20k worth of coins per month, I would consider it.

A) The coins ship Next Day Air and are a signature item.
B) Last night was the first I've heard about a short roll.
C) gbryan84 is buying 10K of coin at a time, and the limit is almost 25k per order. So what you posit is definitely doable.

Before disclosing a trunk full of dollar coins, one could negotiate a cash discount.

And have a friend with a video camera outside when you reveal the trunk full of coin to the car dealer.

You can take it to Penny Arcade at TD and have it counted automatically.

Or you can walk the boxes to a teller...apparently my local TD doesn't care either way. ^

We don't have no TD's where I live.

So, my plan is to get an SPG Amex, buy 20k/month in coins, then drive to Jersey and cash them in at TD.

There is a TD at 14th and F, 7th and I, and another one just off of Dupont Circle. No need to come visit me, although if you did I'd certainly be willing to help you carry the coins from the car to the branch.

Sorry to hear that.

It's all for the best. I actually found out just ten days after the honeymoon ended. When we combined our cell phone accounts, I (naturally) received a bill. I was somewhat curious why hundreds of minutes & multiple calls per day were going to the same number. She also happened to leave her email open on my computer one evening. Saved mail with photos of her and him (same dude from over a year ago) from just two and three weeks before the wedding.

It was rough for several weeks, but I have come to realize that I made the mistake of marrying a true sociopath, who has no regard for the feelings of others. It doesn't make any sense to try and ask: "why?" as that would just be pointless. I can't understand that frame of reference.

I am, however, going to enjoy my newfound freedom to the hilt. I'm hitting up PRG with some buddies for Labor Day Weekend (there is Z availability on the PRG-JFK return ^), and am going to plan an absolutely ridiculous New Year's routing to somewhere off the beaten track.

Wow. I'm not entirely sure what to say. I'm glad that you figured it out, I guess, so that you're not living in a lie, but wow.

You've picked two times where I'm already booked. :( Find some different weekends and I'll do what I can to help you out.

Does PRG for Labor Day mean no PRG for MLK 2010? Or are you willing to repeat on that one?

I am always up for PRG. It is a :-: of a city.

Cheer up, folks, it ain't a funeral. I've already done much of the heavy ,,, and :( lifting. I'm sure as hell not going to sit around and mope when I haven't done anything wrong.

There's beer to be drunk, and lots of lines yet to fill on my FM, and about 3 billion other fish in the sea, many of whom are not sociopaths.

kingalien Jul 17, 2009 7:59 am

Sorry to hear ALCO.

Morning Box.
