Travel on business and carry an SPG Amex and you rack up 3000 points every couple of weeks, give or take, without doing anything.

Tonight there are 3 ExpressJet liveried RJs at CLE parking in the B terminal. Any idea why? I thought they were not flying that livery any more... Guess I'm wrong...

What is the maximum number of miles/points one can earn in a year with the coin orders? 3k SPG points is not even remotely an incentive to get me to deal with all that nonsense. I'd rather just pay for a hotel stay with cash.

Well, the NA coins are limited to $24,750 per order. Having that number of dollar coins at your place of residence would suck.

I would just order the 24K, get the coins delivered and then show up at the car dealership with them and buy a car :D

Well, on the site there are six types available. Assuming 500 of each that means 3000 in one bunch. If the counter resets every four months, that's 12,000 a year. Plus as they introduce new coins, they get added into the mix.

CO 1E Jul 16, 2009 9:50 pm

Exactly. Who wants to deal with ordering the coins, hoping they don't get stolen in transit and are delivered properly, making sure the count is correct (which is often not the case according to anecdotal evidence in the Box), and schlepping them up to a bank during normal banking business hours for a couple of thousand miles a pop. I guess if youre a week at home type who can go to a bank during the day, it might be easier, but I'd rather just buy a $200 transcon to net 12k rams. Now, if I could buy 20k worth of coins per month, I would consider it.

If you were going to pay cash for a car anyway.

I'm toying with the idea of doing it, but mostly because a) it's MR points which I can use on NH and SQ and b) i'll be working from home a bit more and i'll have the time to run to the bank during the day.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to pressure the car dealer into taking the 24K on your Amex or CO Mastercharge? :D

As long as you use that AmEx - I need something to help my share values ...

Before disclosing a trunk full of dollar coins, one could negotiate a cash discount.

Rumor has it, that Claudio has a special clause that allows him 20K a month.
