I need to learn how to gamble. I recall the change woman from Run Lola Run responding to "How does this work?" by saying "You trade your money for chips and then gamble them away." That's about the extent of my knowledge of gambling.. I need to learn since a friend will be working on a Cirque show in Vegas this fall and I'm supposed to visit.

I think that is great news. I wonder what route they are going to use the 757's on now.

I noticed that there is now one daily 752 on EWR-LAS-EWR starting in Oct

If you're still debating a last minute trip more than 24 hours after the thought first came to mind, is it a sign that you just need to suck it up and go for it or give up on the idea?

:p

I usually try to see if i still care in 72 hours or after a shopping trip to Target (I like Target and buying stuff there.)

Essentially, what else could that money be used for and do you want that other stuff more?

My guess is that, aside from peak travel times to Hawaii (Thanksgiving & New Year's, mainly), EUA rates should be good. LAX is not a hub, and this will be primarily a leisure route. So, many of the elites on the flight will just happen to be onboard because that is when they chose to take a vacation. Also, aside from FTers, I'm not exactly sure how many clueless elites (there are tons of them) would craft their vacation to Hawaii around the chance of an EUA.

Quite true. And yes, there are some very clueless elites out there. I have a former coworker who was a Gold that was on the same SAN-IAH flight as me a couple of years ago. She checked in and a boarding pass printed out with a seat assignment in F. She didn't know she had been upgraded, nor did she know she was entitled to upgrades if the seat was available when he time in the EUA priority came up. She argued with the ticket counter agent at SAN about it, telling them that it must be a mistake, and that she wasn't allowed by our company to buy a first class ticket. I, and another co-worker, had to join the agent at the counter in explaining to her what her elite status meant, and that nobody at work was going to raise a fuss over her getting a free upgrade, and that she had only been charged for a coach ticket. Apparently she earned Gold flying out of IAH exclusively on Express flights, and had no idea about the upgrade system for elites.

I am booked up at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle for my trip to Miami :D Looking forward now. First time in a year I haven't just winged it and gotten a hotwire hotrate somewhere in Miami on a 3.5+ star hotel.
Plus of all places in Miami I liked the North Dade/Aventura area the best by far for the oceanside portion and Miami Lakes for the western portions.

Now I feel even more ill.

Speaking of feeling ill, how long until we get a public outburst from Blago about the conspiracy to ruin his good name?

I bet one could make a killing by franchising Australian Ice Cream here in the States. I'd give anything for one of those choco-dipped Belgian waffles slathered in honey-cinnamon ice cream right about now...

Australian Ice Cream, served in the States. Mmmmmmm. The parent franchise company? PBC, LLC. :D

The idea of earning Gold on purely Express flights makes you ill?

In an average year, I fly enough Express/Connection stuff to get at least Silver.

To be kept in mind is that you're addressing that question to the guy who used Woodford Reserve to survive an early-morning BNA-PHL () hop on a CR2.

You would almost expect them to start demanding 747 service on that route.

it is just LAX-HNL for now, not like they are putting a 739 on a IAH-HNL run where you are cramped for many hours.

IAH-HNL is less time than EWR to Europe in a 752. Can the 752 do IAH-HNL now that I'm pondering? I doubt they'll make that change because of the cargo they put in the 764's

Define perfect. Today is a strange wind day so anything is possible. I took some time out trimming the hedge to take photos of planes flying over. I (missed the LH 744, neighbors must have wondered why I was cursing at the sky when it flew by.

That would be a smaller aircraft than the usual 753.

I want to get a shot of the LH A343 coming into PHL - still haven't managed to schedule myself in the right place at the right time.

Actually, it was 200 more miles. I was upgraded on my first flight but the CR2 was MEM-PHL.
