I am a big guy and I like ERJs, now CRJs I avoid like the plague, unless it is empty. I like the Saab 340's as well. :D I am actually quite comfy in a SAAB for the flight times they are, I don't like when they have no AC on in the August months, but my car is without AC right now, will just be more of the same.

I have a good friend in Houston who did IAH-BOI on an ERJ a few years ago. When that flight existed, I believe it was the longest ERJ flight in the US.

GCM shows it at almost 1500 miles for IAH-BOI, talk about

My YYZ-IAH flight was followed by IAH-EZE in CO Economy Minus on the same day.

For the Box's Consideration:

Need a ticket to FCO in early September.

LH has mileage options in C and F.

Ideally I'd like to buy the ticket to top off my AA account (but I'm not paying $650+ for it) but assuming that does not work, I'm thinking about cashing in some UA points.

Currently have a C award reserved but can't help thinking about F.

So the question: is LH F worth the extra miles over LH C?

...and is mileage award in C or F preferable to a paid ticket in Y?

Easy cause and effect relationship there, I say. I've been on an ERJ a whopping four times at 363 miles each, and I think I've scored one exit row. By the end of this year, that total might be five flights and it might be seven, but I expect the exit row count to remain at one. 12A might be PHL's toughest upgrade.

Could be just me, but I thought one of the Noble Truths of FFP's was to use miles in order to avoid longhaul Y.

I do have ABQ-IAH coming up soon, on an ERJ, and it looks like that won't be in an exit row. Most of the non-exit row ERJ flights I've had were under 250 miles.

I've flown LH C and find it quite acceptable, similar to CO's new BF seats. So yes, I would go with LH C over Y.

If you are flying via FRA, then yes F is worth it for the lounges.
Also there is a huge difference in service between F and C.
If LH C is the choice then try to get on the 330 or the 346.

My crystal ball says anything is preferable to a paid ticket in Y on that length of flight.

Very true -- but I'm currently facing ~ 15k AA point deficit before the end of the year and need the EQMs, hence the option of buying a ticket and killing two birds with one stone.

Oh well, hopefully AA will keep the fares high to discourage me from doing so! :D

That is also a very good point.

Yeah, I only recall one instance distinctly because I was surprised to be boarding from the tarmac on CO out of TPA. Three planes all from the same gate all boarding at roughly the same time. I was further surprised to learn it was the same Chautauqua plane I had been used to on DL.

If i recall correctly, in subsequent bookings I realized DL/CO essentially shared the route and sold tickets at various price points - DL usually cheaper for the same flight - alternating whose branded plane and which gate you went out of through the day. There were like 3 or 4 of them, but with DL/CO sharing the planes (2 each I think?) it looked like there were 8 nonstops TPA-CMH.

That's what I'm in now -- in the Captain Kirk chair on the 744 both ways ex. IAH.
