Many times the check engine light is due to an issue with the emissions system, and quite often, it's because you didn't tighten the gas cap enough.

This past week I had a brand new Ford Flex (that SUV/mini-van thing that looks like a Mini Cooper on steroids) as a rental. It didn't even have a gas cap! Just a rubber gasket thing on the gas door that formed a seal over the opening to the fuel tank when closed.

Nice!

One of the twin 3-year-olds stayed over here last night, VERY much to the chagrin of the 6-year-old, who registered displeasure (via the usual delivery system of extremely loud whining and crying) over her assumption that the younger sister would be permitted to stay up later.

Afternoon, Box.

Working on Sweedish cars? It's got to be a booming business, considering I've never known a Saab or Volvo owner who considered the things to be trouble-free.

I was a little underwhelmed by Boeing. Don't misunderstand, it's a great experience...but I didn't get a chance to go to Renton and see the narrowbody operation. I would have liked to have gotten a look at that, or at least spend time at Boeing Field.

It is. Apparently, unfulfilled promises of climate change (i.e., window air conditioner) for this part of the house predate the existence of the relationship, which is a few weeks past three years old at this point. A window unit was bought, only to find out that the windows are of non-standard size. Maybe it's just me, but I would have checked the window size first. There's more to the story, but it's not meant for public consumption.

Time to go take a shower and sweat while drying off.

Me too. I don't expect the US to win but I hope the game is a good one.

Time to get off the computer and go start painting our upstairs bathroom.

Lucky you! I need to talk to UA to reschedule their international arrivals so that I can sleep in on a Sunday. Every morning I am awaken by their 747 coming in for a landing at 6:30am.

Weather for today is more heat. Yesterday's official temperature was 97. It's not suppose to be as hot as yesterday but nothing really cooled down over night so it's still warm. I just might enjoy going to work tonight only for the A/C at the airport.

My Saab has been fairly reliable overall. It was not until the last year or so that it began to need work. That said, I will never buy a Swedish car again.

I hear you. A few years ago I lived in Escondido and it was always about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than adjacent areas of San Diego County. Having no A/C or an A/C that didn't work was brutal during the few days a year it got hot. My portable A/C unit was the best investment I made while living there. I was miserable during the day but at night I could cool off my bedroom so I could at least get some sleep.

I was going to have 10 sudden trips to BHM if I were eligible.

Don't know about all that - there's also a big difference between an event for 525 and an event for a cozier audience. And some of the more strident pro/anti DL persons were attending.

I was kinda miffed but understand although I have seen other times when a couple volunteers and one not two are needed and thus they pay both.

Depends upon the timing - I know plenty who would say "one of us will take the voucher", the other would fly ahead, get the car, check into the hotel, make dinner reservations, scope out activities, etc.

While out in SEA went into a store and bought a bar of chocolate with bacon in it. It is tasty actually.

One Flew South on ATL Concourse E makes a manhattan with bacon infused bourbon. Don't knock it without trying (and I've been invited to sample the bacon-infused bourbon itself).

I withheld comment and was in a suit both days at CO Do IV. Of course, I was coming from work on Friday and going to HQ on Saturday.

Me, to fiancee:" How would she dance?"

Her: "She might just have music in her own head."

Vibration from the sound - it's also a principle used in alarm clocks.

Two home related observations today:

1) A bag of river stones doesn't cover nearly as much area as you think it should.
2) The people on HGTV's "Renovation Realities" will surely be next year's nominees for the Darwin Awards.

G'Day, Box!:)

I went to a bacon and bourbon tasting at a liquor store here a few months back. They had the bacon-flavored bourbon. It was delicious.

Is Billy Mays a celebrity? He's dead too. I thought the deaths only happen in 3's.

I could be round two of three. I will be interesting if the bad landing and getting hit on the head had anything to do with it.

Oh come on, start the footie game.
