no, it was like a newspaper ad from the 50s or something, and it was that big too! He took it out and just has my pic on it now.

Well isn't that special? Thanks for the heads up. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I thought no jobs existed there these days? Media said so yesterday.

At least you heard it person. I would have had to read it here.

Personally, I don't think you'd have any issues with opening an account and accessing it in Texas. Anything they can't do they can request (such as checks and such). I regularly use my WaMu account at Chase and my Chase account at WaMu. (Yes, I have both).

There are some, but they're limited. He works in PR and marketing.

Finally booked my Mini Do return airfare - of course, it's an early morning flight; the late departure I was reserving "sold out" before I could book ...

Nothing to lose in cold-calling a CEO, right?

You get the feeling that some people take themselves a little too seriously here?

HKG for work...your life sucks.

You obviously never worked for my old boss. Below is a sample itinerary for my first 8 trips to HKG:

Day 1
7:30 - 8:15 breakfast meeting with vendor
8:30 - 10:00 vendor meeting I
10:15 - 11:30 vendor meeting II
11:45 - 1:00 working lunch with vendor
1:15 - 3:00 vendor meeting III
3:15 - 5:00 vendor meeting IV
5:15 - 6:30 vendor meeting V
7:00 - 10:30 dinner with vendor

Day 2
Repeat

Day 3
Repeat

Day 4
7:30 - 8:15 breakfast meeting with vendor
8:45 - 6:30 trade show with possible 15 minute vendor lunch drive-by
7:00 - 10:30 dinner with vendor

Day 5
Repeat

Day 6
Make vendor open their offices on a Sunday for all day meetings or cross the border to go look at factory and get stuck in customs with everybody else returning from the weekend.

(And don't we'd be doing anything of note in between appointments as you have to factor in transit.)

And the funny part was he wasn't a jerk, he just believed that when you traveled on the company dime you needed to work 120% of the waking hours. We once spent 3 days in OOL and he went crazy because we finished our work in about a day and we couldn't get our flights changed. OOL people.

When I finally did the trip on my own, a vendor took pity on me and organized a Sunday afternoon harbor tour. A couple trips later I got to see the Peek and Stanley Market.

We went to NYC probably 10 times and all I ever saw was Javits, the Toy Building and the hotel. I had to move to NJ before I saw the Empire State Building.
