The Spitzer Special requires one zillion Aero Pandy points.

the delta lounge in phl is

It is nonetheless much nicer than the US clubs (except the Envoy lounge) or the RCC. Haven't been in the BA lounge.

There's also the bus idea, though. Looks like I can do either Peter Pan or Bolt Bus for a total of about $60 (including the $20 r/t to get to Penn Station) which would make it about a 5.5 hour trip, but I could sleep/work...hmmmm.

Any opinions on the NYC/Boston bus options? I've taken a grand total of ONE in my life, and it was back in 2002...

Amtrak might be an option, too. A bit more expensive than the bus, and no wi-fi, but more room, and power all the way. Red line from South Station puts you in Cambridge. And from New Haven to Providence the ride is pretty.

In other news, I listened to Airborne Toxic Event last night on my drive home, after we talked about them in the box the other day. I have to say, giving the album a third pass, I now really like (most of) it.

I'd highly recommend Army Navy's self-titled album for those who are interested in California power pop.

Did you ever propose to the significant dergon? (sorry if I missed that post. I think I only remember hearing you had acquired the hardware.)

Yes I did. :) Thanks for asking.

The answer to the more imprtant question, though is.....................No. The miles from bluenile.com have not posted to my account yet ;)

Nice play. Catch is, I'm getting to the point where my network is almost intriplicate...I don't want to go thru the effort of closing and rebuilding a hub just for fun, and I don't want to fly pointless routes that just add lines to the map. I'm getting to the point where I'm running everything I can without buying more widebodies, and I don't want to buy more...they take too long, the ROI stinks, and it's not like I'll be playing AM the entire time while I'm in AMS.

I wish. At least I saw the sun when I was at the Stadium on Saturday. Isn't this day 8 of rain?

This would have been a great time for one of those "weekend getaway" 15K miles+$36 deals...unfortunately, this weekend I can go from EWR to all sorts of far-flung places like YYZ, DAY, GSP, etc. - but not a simple 201 miles up the road.

And honestly, at this point, the travel time would probably be quite close to equal... drive to Princeton Junction/train to EWR/waiting at the airport/1.5 hr flight/subway from BOS to Cambridge=easily 4 hours, and it's about a 4.5 hour drive if you avoid bad rush hour times. NOT worth the $191, in my book.

There is also Amtrak right to South Station.

Bolt Bus, (First Group) is one option and Megabus (Stagecoach, aka Couch USA) is another one of the nicer bus lines. Them being launched based on their UK based models they have better service and are non stop between city pairs.

Which is I think why a five year world or something close to that is more appropriate for the smaller groups we have here, even with a full world map.

Is it wrong of me to think that I should fly to SJC one a one-night turn solely to drop off a resume? Waste of money or great way to impress?

I'd say go for it. You get miles and it will impress folks.

I would offer to drop it off for you, but I may not be there for a few weeks.

There's an unfortunate lack of long-haul Soviet and Chinese aircraft to choose from. Shanghai Y-10 can squeeze out a decent amount of range, as can the Il-62MK (lousy economics), but there's nothing there with TPAC range. Il-86 can handle a lot of Pax, but doesn't fly very far (roughly the same range as a Tu-154B).

For short-range, the Yak-42D is the best earner in my fleet. Just started up another one this morning.

And they have those oh-so-cool boomerang-shaped steering mechanisms. Or at least they did in 1990, which is the last time I rode on one. :)

We definitely bought one of those toy-sized ones to take home, with which my sisters and I enjoyed playing as kids. Still lives in my parents' house somewhere...

Thanks for the offer. Not sure I can bring myself to fly that far basically on spec. The trip would, however, lock down Silver.

Not unlike Communism itself, AeroflOtter may crumble unless it introduces itself to the West.
