why do people challenge me on AM? It is not like they will win.

I have to find the article that I read about the computer-human interaction in an Airbus cockpit. It left a bad taste in my mouth...almost like the computer is too powerful and the airplane thinks for itself despite the human.

Why can't I come across flights like this?

I've got a 5:30p departure on Friday and HeathrowGuy will be there, too. Our flight is apparently over by 11 in the back and 9 empty up front. So many possibilities. Hard to believe they were selling L seats at 20 days out.

It sounds like CO is doing a lot of overselling with these cheap TATL fares. My flight to FRA (early May) is still showing open seats on the map (unreliable, I know), but it looks like it could be tight.

My parents flew to DUB last week and after moving 5 to the front, they went out completely full.

I feel like I'm getting old... We went to my younger brother's high school baseball game to watch him pitch and got home around 10:45pm. I could barely get out of bed at 5:30 this morning.

Just wait until you get a house with a lawn. Monday mornings become ultra

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems with the restrictions on number of focus cities and frequencies per route, we'll never get to a point where it gets cut-throat and firms start driving other firms out of the game. Everyone will just continue happily along.

It's possible to have fare wars. I was redoing things last night and someone was playing with their routes at the same time which made me change pricing 4 times in a 20 minute window on just one route.

I'm curious to know why you're OK with pilots trusting the computers on an F/A-18 but not on an Airubs.

Because large groups of civilians aren't flying insdie of a F/A 18. The 777 is fly-by-wire too.

Egads, I better go stock up the fallout shelter.

I own JAVA, why do you ask?:mad:

You didn't sell when it almost $10 last week? You fool! After leaving JAVA, I sold the bulk of my stock and have a few shares left simply so I can keep voting against the board since they are a bunch of bumbling fools.

Side note, Schwartz? He comes from the same great minds that brought us Ted (RAR!). McKinsey.

I don't like the limits that the computer puts on the pilot, and I did ask about this in the UA Pilot Thread, only to be rebuked pretty good for basically having the facts reversed. The 'Bus pilots there seem to put stock into the idea that the computer will act faster and know better what to do should the  hit the fan.

I generally trust the Airbii. Every once in a while there is something that makes me go "huh?". Case in point, a few years ago i'm sitting on a UA 320 at SFO going back to SAN. Pilot comes on board and tells us we all need to get off. Why? Because there was a problem with the computer and they needed to reboot the plane. I had visions of Bill Gates in the cockpit for that entire flight.

All valid points. Guess I should switch to UA.

Come to the dark side.

Ok, random fun story for the box. My customer this week is in a quarter end freeze which means that no one can do anything that disrupts the infrastructure. Random user submits an exemption request saying that he would like an exemption as he is going to be downloading large files.

The approver asks what kinds of files so the user sends a sample over. The approver opens said file to find out it's porn.

I could not believe when this happened, some people are real idiots.

Best part, apparently there were three other folks involved and they were running a side biz reselling porn around the globe.

Darwinism at work.

When are you in EWR on Sunday? I'll be returning from HAM at ~11:30, depending on headwinds.

Around 3:30pm. I'm on the late flight from AMS. Looks like I'll miss you, unless you get to see Goose Bay, first. :D

No EK update yet, :rolleyes:v. Will call in later this afternoon to check on it.

I would have ran from that flight screaming if the cockpit door was open and I heard the Windows startup jingle.

After *A, I'll try it. The last time I flew UA was easily more than 15 years ago. I think it was SFO-EWR, with Ch.9. I think I was about 10 years old and I still remember listening to Ch.9 and the coffee being very good.

That's insane. Were the other three people involved the camera guy and the talent?
