Outside of low/mistake Y fares, is it ever worth flying UA and crediting to BD? I am running the numbers and it doesn't seem like you can collect enough destination miles to make it worth much. The 25% status bonus just kills it.

Too bad to enjoy the nice lav configuration you have to fly on a dirty no good Airbus. </endsillyboeingpreference>

I'm not a big Airbus fan myself. My flights are limited to A320, A319,A300, and A346. I appreciate the wider seats but the walls curve in faster on the A320 series faster than the Boeings. The Airbus' also fly funny or something which I can't put my finger on what it is that makes me very happy to get off of them. I guess it's like me not likeing 762's but I really like 764's.

I know for certain my only A300 was an AA AB6, MIA-PTY last May.

Speaking of painting planes, I spent part of today messing around with a 734 in MS Paint. I had to get rid of the existing paint job and am working on something new and exciting.

Haha, no. There was a guy in my Rotary club that used "new and exciting" as a verbal crutch. It spread rapidly.

Yes, mistake -Ups especially.

While you are collecting many fewer miles overall, the very aggressive redemption rates on premium cabin rewards, especially C+M, seem to offset the limited earning potential. Plus, when you're flying on a F fare having paid an almost Y fare and earning 625% then the lack of an elite bonus doesn't seem to really matter so much. :D

True, the C+M does help offset it a bit.

I was looking at the PHL-SBA fare and for $236 I can get a PHL-ORD-MCI-DEN-SJC-SBA-LAX-SFO-CLT-PHL routing (of course, a more direct routing earns almost as many miles). While it would create some very nice FM lines, it only nets 9402 destination miles - hardly worth it IMO.

I guess I should just wait for the next -Up deal.

Still nothing final on the local tour flight.

Any thoughts on the KL M11 in WBC versus the 772 versus a CO 762? I'm thinking the M11 might be fun, just because. It offers a few hours in AMS (arrive 8ish, leave 15:00ish) but requires a YUL connection. New line, too, I suppose, though much  from the wife, I'm sure.

Thanks for the update on the *A Do. It had slipped my mind and seeing this post made me smile. Good point about flying J, though I need some positive cashflow...

I would grab the M11 as one would imagine that your chances in the future will be small.

The -600 is a beautiful aircraft. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to board one via airstars and it gave such an amazing perspective as to the length of the aircraft.

I have yet to do a A34X, right now my favorite plane is the A332.

MBM3 Apr 7, 2009 9:50 pm

I have not done the A300 series, but have the 319/320/321/332/333/346. I would like to get the Baby Bus and 380 soon, but doubt I will have a chance for the 345.
