Whew, it's nice to be back!

Boston/Cambridge was great (sister's graduation + 5th reunion for me), the traveling worked out just fine (with the exception of getting to and from EWR, ironically), and all my work for the year is done (yay, summer vacation!)

Hope you're all well. Anything earth-shattering in the last week that I missed?

Welcome back, ALCO - can't wait to hear about the adventure!

I assume most of you know this already, but having not used that airport in about 4 years, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that CO waives the $25 fee for same-day-standby-for-earlier-flights on the BOS-EWR route. Got on a flight 2 hours earlier (and I wasn't getting upgraded anyway, so no problem). Any other routes where that's the case?

Flying to CLE today for the other sister's graduation out of, of all things, BWI (it was $107, MUCH cheaper than any other closer airport, and I have the time on either end for the drive). RJs both ways. Oh well.

I assume the crazy Delta Europe sale has been discussed. Wow.

Oh, and I hope none of you were trying to fly out of DC last night. :(

Interesting... I don't have any interest in NW Gold as it won't get me International lounge access but I'll give it a try and see what happens. Is there an email address to which I can send the request or do I need to mail it to the address in the master status match thread?

I figured I had nothing to lose with a status match. I just faxed my stuff to the info in the master status match thread.

Sadly I don't think i'll be able to make it. If something changes, i'll keep you posted.

I'm assuming I have nothing to lose as well. I'll wait until July to send it so I can get the extra year (assuming they work the same way CO does). We'll see what happens...

Statements from DL I've seen in the past suggest they have no interest in matching to ST Elite+; perhaps this is part of the DL/NW alignment.

It's got to be kettles. In my bordem I'm looking at tomorrow's seat map and noticed 12 A and C have been filled on a 738. Row 14 is wide open. Won't they be surprised to find out those seats don't recline.

Outside Grey goose and black label, that is a good list.

And what a harsh reality it is, I'm sure... Welcome back!

I'm looking forward to seeing some Seoul and Khao Lak pictures. :D

Welcome back. I assume the trip report is at the top of that pile of work? :D:rolleyes::o

Thanks to all for the welcomes. It will take some time to get all my pics uploaded. There are hundreds to go through. I can say that the KQ J seat is phenomenal (though the controls are old-school). It was the flattest and cushiest of all the products we tried. EK J on the 77W and 77L was also phenomenal.

I think I may have convinced the Significant Otter that, at the very least, a holiday home near Cape Town is a necessity. Thank you, Penguins and Wineries!

Grey goose is good for an aircraft.

Relevant PM taken care of. Sorry you can't make it; there's sure to be plenty of  to go around.

Do IV taught me that you could have the world's best vodka on an aircraft, but if you stock the aircraft with concentrate crap mixing juices, the drink will still suck.

It's hard to go wrong with a G&T. You just need to get the proportions right. Annoying when they give you a wedge of lime so small it can't be effectively squeezed. Airlines should be more considerate when dispensing Anti-Malarial cocktails.

And yet so many get that part wrong. It is a good justification for my preference of alcohol on the rocks or neat (depending on the booze in question) as then chances of a proportional error are greatly reduced.

I smell gin and just about pass out. I can't imagine that oral consumption will be much more appetizing than nasal consumption in my case.

Absolutely agree. Though the composition of a G&T appears fairly simple, the devil's in the details. There are only a handful of barkeeps (IME) that get it right consistently.
