Fun travel day

Admittedly I have not read the last 10 pages of posts here, but wanted to vent/"share"...

Left the UWS at 4am for a 5:45a LGA-IAH flight enroute to SLC. Waited for TSA to decide to start their workday sometime around 4:50a. By 5:10a, gate agent was calling for volunteers needed due to weight and balance issues (a first for me on a mainline flight.) I jumped up and was the second person being processed for the VDB...automatic $350 voucher, rebooked on the 7:30 EWR-IAH flight (a 777, in J!) with car service voucher between LGA and EWR provided. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication re: where to meet the car service (she said outside, I went to downstairs passenger pickup, later found out the car was waiting outside of ticketing area.) Rebooked on the 6:30a LGA-IAH in F, connecting to an RJ arriving SLC only 2hrs after my original itin. Well...

Circled circled circled IAH as our 3mile visibility reduced to 100ft visibility. Diverted to LFT to await the fog to clear. Find out I'm still booked on the 11something RJ IAH-SLC, and protected on the 1:15p. Released to IAH and arrive just after noon...run run run from C34 to B84A to catch my 11something that has now experienced an aircract change and scheduled to depart 12:30. Get to the gate at 12:20 completely winded and after knocking down a few small children/old ladies only to find they aren't even boarding yet. Great.

Somewhere along the way I receive a text update from CO for the 1:15 flight, but not the 11something. hrmm... When I get to the gate area I asked an agent to verify which flight I was on. "well, you're obviously still on this on" and hands by BP back to me.

Half hour later still not boarding I see from the pda CO site that the exit row is still empty so go to the same GA to switch seats. She says only 1 seat is available..hrmm...ok, I'll take it but just saw all 3 seats open. Do a doubletake at the BP and it's for the later flight! (not that there's much of a difference in departure time at this point, but I really didn't feel like a gate change...) Get 12A on the 11something, start boarding in 15 min or so (BP gets rejected but they pass me on anyway.)

Saw a FT luggage tag...only my second sighting...met WG55??? We had both been travelling since 4:30a EDT and still enroute. Commiseration helps.

As today is the start of March Madness, and my alma mater was playing during my travels, I was wearing my A&M garb. The FA on the IAH-SLC flight was an Aggie, as was the cockpit, so my purchase of a rum and diet coke magically turned into 3 mini's and a diet coke. :)

Phew...sorry for the rambling. I'm a bit torn because it was a really long day of travel and yet it was enjoyable. I got through a good book start to finish, had a few beverages, napped half the time, got my exercise running between terminals, and ended up at my destination in one piece before happy hour even! Can't really complain.

Time for more drinkies...

I worked for - and have a degree from - AU. I was ticked when they were up 10. Why? I'm currently 12/12 and tied for first in my only bracket. I'll probably lose 6-8 games tomorrow

Speaking of all things margarita, the fiancee had a 27-ouncer at about 7:10 this evening. She's asleep as I type.

What did she have before the margarita?

I am 2 flights away from having a 752 taking over the top spot on my flight memory

The 75X series is nowhere near passing the MD-80 series or 73X on my flight history. I even have more DC-9 flights than 75X ...

Sounds like a perfect day, other than the running and minor worries about the misconnects. Coming out of it with the VDB and the A&M win is just icing on the cake.

The bad news is, I could use that money for important things . . . like shoes.

One year she gave up buying shoes for lent. How could I make this up?

She had it with dinner - white chicken chili and buffalo chicken tacos.

Why not, it worked for George. He named all five of his "George Foreman."

That was last year. This year it was shoes, clothes and accessories. Thanks for paying attention

I guess the box is good for Plus1 to keep up on me.
