No - I had an exciting afternoon not working - at Chuck E. Cheese. Most upsetting was the fact that they've taken beer off the menu - it was the only thing that made the place tolerable. Well, that and skeeball; but since it's Spring Break and hordes of kids everywhere, no dice. I'm detoxing right now and glad it's over.

There is no way that UA can sustain its current business model of giving away the store in the medium to long term. Once fuel prices rocket back up, they will have to make serious changes or just file for Chapter 7.

Made it back to SFO and am sitting in the RCC (hold the , please :o) renewal lounge. While the internet's working I can't seem to get AIM to fire up  and am pleased to report that I was only "minimally violated" by CBP upon re-entering the US...so ^ I guess for them.

Welcome back. You're almost done, right? No more SYD - but do you have any other flights before heading home?

Did you manage any op-up's on any of the SYD flights?

Does that "detoxing" involve "toxing" to get over the afternoon?? :p

Why yes, yes it does! I figured it was 5:15 Eastern time, late enough to open a bottle of wine. I'm still on the first glass, but I really needed it ;)

What amazed me was how many parents let their kids run wild. Even little kids. I realize they have a security deal when you leave so that your kid doesn't get kidnapped, but still - people, take some responsibility for your spawn!

If only someone could do this for a widebody...the 747 in Scandinavia doesn't count since that's a freestanding aircraft.

That's awesome! There have been some good fares down to SJO off and on over the past few months. It might be time to grab one. :D

Looks fun but it's not an easy sell for the female types.

The husband of a woman that worked for my mother had a dog that ate (and passed) a $50 bill whole. At least there was no vet involved...just the private humiliation of fishing money out of poo.

How I would love to see CO paint in all the places that UA paint exists. Keep the UA employees that aren't rotten and jettison the crackpots and the inefficient aircraft and people/routes.

The death of personal responsibility, witnessed firsthand.

In my personal time zone, you held off 5 hours too long.:D

Should I save my liver in preparation for tomorrow? Or open up that bottle of chianti?

*cough*chianti*cough*

More is more.

Is there an antivirus program that doesn't take the entirety of the system's resources to run? I'd love to be protected from random crap teh Intertoobz, but I get less excited over my protection when the computer runs half as fast as it could because of the virus software.

IAH is indeed impossible. I seem to recall hearing they regularly experience 90%+ LFs on that flight. It prints money.
