Out of curiosity, does it have to be all KL flights or could one take the NW EWR-AMS flight?

It must be all KL metal - including a NW-operated segment would push it into the 100k category.

channa's the authority on this but I think as long as you take KL over the water the award should price out at 40k each way. It does not matter who you take to connect to/from your international gateways (e.g. SEA-AS-SFO-KL-AMS-AF-CDG-AZ-FCO should work at 40k) -- also I think DL BE is only 45k each way and despite what C:rolleyes: thinks, is on par with BF (if not better.)

Ah. I must have been informed by a clueless Elite Desk rep, who informed me that my IAH-AMS-EDI-AMS-IAH flights were pricing out at 100K

I am not sure whether that is the case - when I redeemed KL overwater in the past, if I involved any other carrier, IIRC, it pushed the entire reservation into the 100k level. I am going to call and try to book a KL-only reservation and see how it prices.

Got a clarification: it does not matter who you take on the US side, but once in Europe you've got to stick with KL.

Gee, thanks. :p

The scary thing is I can't begin to imagine this woman on that kind of phone chat. I've never met her, but based on our call this morning, she seems a little odd. And I certainly can't imagine her nasal voice being very sexy.

Only if you want Business class on the Europe side do you have to stick with KL. You can take AF or others, but they have to be in Coach to stick with the 80K level.

I was able to book SFO-DL-ATL-KL-AMS-KL-OSL at the 80K level.

I don't think we can let this one go so easily. You must investigate the rest of this story and report back to the box.

2 questions:

1) What is her relationship to the phone number? Customer? Talent? Proprietor?
2) To whom was the original email sent? Husband? Married boyfriend? Boss? Mother?

Can we say awkward! No way am I calling that woman to find out this information.

I usually have the good sense to fill the trunk at the county line before passing through "Bat Country."
