This makes no sense. In a few weeks I have to fly LAX-IAH on Monday, then IAH-ATL on Friday. I'll be working that week in the Houston area, and we're going to be in LA the weekend before. My corporate travel agent's site quotes me over $850 on CO for the same flights that CO.com is quoting me just under $600. On the travel agent's site, LAX-IAH is a B fare, and IAH-ATL is Y. On CO.com, LAX-IAH is still B, and IAH-ATL is N. I'm tempted to just book it on CO.com and apologize later is anyone says anything. It's far cheaper, and I wouldn't mind the $5 TravelBank credit, and the points for Mileathon.

If corporate policy can ever be bent for anything, citing a savings is the easiest way to come out of the meeting that will result with a :D instead of a .

Exactly. And while the instant upgrade on the IAH-ATL segment and the 150% EQMs on that flight would be nice, I'm not too concerned about getting a regular EUA on that flight, as it's exceptionally rare that I don't. It's certainly not worth a $250+ fare difference, plus the $23 we get charged by the travel agent for every ticket we purchase from them. I think I'm just going to book it on CO's website, and if anyone at work complains (they usually let the occasional non-travel agent receipt slide through) I'll just tell them that the travel agent couldn't get me a price as cheap as what was on the airline's website.

Screenshot it.

I used to do this to prove to our accounting department that Expedia corporate (or whatever they call it now) is not necessarily cheaper than just booking on CO.com. They'd point out the US Airways fare that was $90 cheaper than my CO one and I'd quickly point out that I did not feel like spending a full day trying to get to podunk West Virginia and did not want to make 5 connections doing it.

Anyone in the Box flying UA before March 31 on a short (500 miles or less) segment on either mainline or ExPlus equipment? If so, PM me. I've got an e500 upgrade that expires next month that I won't be able to use up for grabs. I'd rather give it to someone here than make an offer in the (gag) UA forum, or Coupon Connection.

Don't hear much about the grass-hopping BA 772 much these days do you?

For anyone who flies into LHR, that plane is still sitting on the south side of the airport by the BA hangar. It has a bit of a wall around it, but you can still see it.

The tail has been removed as has the markings, but it's obvious what it is.

If you land on 27L, you'll see it just before you touch down. I just saw it this morning and saw it back in Oct when I was here.

I have a pile of them you can borrow. Our BestBuy carries the adaptors as well. And depending on the hotel, some have US and EU connections in the hotel room (I found both in my hotel there in Nov).

It's always possible that the hotel has a US outlet, but it doesn't work :mad::mad:

Not to LA....well, at least not a couple of weeks ago. I saw UA JFK-LAX in April everyday for $258. I'm actually headed your way and i bought my tickets on UA for $330 all in. I didn't want to refare and lose my upgrade. Confirmed in business p.s. UA row 9 :D

You lose your upgrade? Anytime I've had them refare it, they preserve the upgrade. I end up having to refare PS flights once out of every 3 or so trips.

Thanks, now why didn't I think of that?

Screenshot made, and saved, just in case.

You won't be able to sponsor e-500s unless you are traveling with that person.

You lose the upgrade IF at the time of your refare, NC/NF=0. Your upgrade space sometimes does not get released back into the inventory and therefore you won't be able get it back. Of course, you might be able to get a very helpful 1K agent who does it for you, but knowing UA, it's not worth the hassle or energy trying to argue on the phone.

Yep, I saw it last week when we were departing LHR.

Do screenshots embed something that proves when you took the screenshot? I've never had to do this for business reasons, but could imagine it coming in handy for some personal applications.

Sigh. I actually asked a serious question in the serious portion of the Forum. I feel so dirty, now...

Oh that bites. I just assumed they were like other upgrade instruments when it comes to sponsoring others.

UA's upgrade system is so ridiculously complicated.

I much prefer CO's system. I either get the upgrade, or I don't. Nothing to track, nothing to expire.

Well, the file, like any other file, has a date and time stamp from when it was created.

Anyway, I go back into the travel agency's website and now it's quoting the same fare CO did, after four or five tries in the last 24 hours where it was quoting significantly more. So no screenshot. Oh well. Hopefully they won't ask (they never have when I've slipped one through).

Unlike CO, UA doesn't like you. Or me. Or anyone, really. They put it out there with such complication because they hope you won't take advantage of something that represents a cost to them unless you are 1K, GS, Mr. Pillows, or an employee. That's why, for as much I can't stand the UA Forum for its collective attitude and complete lack of anything approaching a personality, I have to give them credit. There are some regulars in there have M+ down to a science and there's a select few posters who get it right all the time. M+ mastery is probably akin in difficulty to a master black belt in Six Sigma or becoming a scratch golfer.
