I've heard it's actually decent post-renovation. However, I think I'd be looking towards places like SAN, YVR, ORD, etc., in the event of another Hurricane evacuation.

We've got some lovely fires to take your mind off the hurricanes after August.

Exactly! Going to IAH isn't exactly evacuating. Might as well stay home.

The geotagging and Flickr integration stuff that Apple is talking about in their Keynote is pretty sweet... If only iPhoto could handle a large library of photos.

I already blew 200K of that on the Honeymoon, and will soon be spending another 45K for free nights (I don't like to let my SPG balance drop below 100K). I think many SPG hotels use current points balance as one of their criteria for prioritizing Plat upgrades. It may be pure coincidence, but I have noticed a much better percentage of suite upgrades when my balance was above 100K than when it was below 100K.

That sounds like my Marriott account, which grew from around 70,000 points at the beginning of 2007 to around 340,000 points at the end of 2007. I just redeemed 65,000 points for two nights in London next month, and that's still fewer points than I deposited during the month of December alone. I should have earned those back by the end of February, not even really staying at Marriott at all during January.

This year I'm focusing on trying to build my SPG account as much as possible. I'd love to go for top-tier status with Hilton, Marriott, and SPG — and I think it's quite doable.

My thoughts as well. A big ^ to the flickr integration! I'm hoping the new version will also have better support for large libraries. I used to be fine, but as I've added more photos, it has definitely slowed down a bit.

The geotagging/mapping will be nice to have as well.

As far as OS integration and a clean interface, I have not found anything as nice as iPhoto.

Whoa, that's so groundbreaking. Other photo management suites, like Adobe's, have been doing that since around 2005.

Sorry, I just find it hard to get hyped up over Apple when they're adding features that others have had forever. Kind of like how the iPhone still can't do a text cut and paste — a BlackBerry and Windows Mobile feature from day one.

Certainly not groundbreaking - you're right. But, that doesn't mean it isn't something that will be nice for Mac users to have.

I agree - the lack of copy/paste functionality is pathetic. At the same time, Apple has put several features in to the iPhone that other manufacturer's devices don't have so it goes both ways.

9:25 am Hovering over a pin at Aspen. Click an arrow and go straight to all Aspen photos, even across multiple events.

I think someone snuck something in to the MacRumors feed there... ;)

I got something cookin', not sure I can make it (Houston). Although I really want to.

Yeah, IAH. Stogie Boy said there are 36 spots or something like that left.

Fair enough. And as soon as I completed the cost/benefit analysis they went ahead and changed the T+C's of the card. Actually, my holding-off on getting the Plat card has been more related to the lack of a decent spiff for signing up than anything else.

I was getting 50K Plat spiffs before I lost the job, and I was seriously thinking about it if for no other reason to turn the 50K into oodles of HH or 50K on CO. HH would be better deal given that those MR points would be ~$500, but while I was thinking about it my income source crapped the bed.

On another note, what is to stop someone from just calling AmEx and asking what the promos are?

Yeah, I noticed that. :D Unfortunately, I haven't upgraded that FM to Galactic Edition.

Adobe has geotagging with a map? I've seen plug-ins for Flickr or SmugMug but never anything built-in to the software.

The argument for why this is "cool" is the fact that there are good number of people who like the features of Flickr and other sites but don't want to rely on the cloud to store our data. We prefer to work locally and upload copies of what we have.
