Placing one's handle in the comments field sounds like a workable solution.

But not searchable/sortable/filterable.

Morning, Box. Back to the job search today. And in other news since FM is the topic du jour, someone is flying US to the Do. No, really.

I like that, upon lookng at it. It's not OF but it does get the job done for our purposes. The OF GUI still doesn't do it for me...now we just have to get the tail numbers and actual flight times.

And they are avoiding the fun of the party flight too.

I think I need more coffee as PHX looked like PHL for awhile.

I suggest that we include our FT name in the comments field of each flight.

Agreed. I suggested that too back when ALCO first posted this.

A couple of suggestions — and I edited your entry just a little. For the flight number field, enter the two character IATA code for the airline, followed by the Flight Number as a four digit number. For example, instead of 320, enter CO0320. The reason why is because FlightMemory's search engine really likes it that way. It will then pick up in the search regardless of misspellings of the airline name, or if someone had entered "Continental" not "Continental Airlines" in the Airline field. It's just a suggestion, but I've found that it works far better for searches for other passengers on your flights. And, it helps resolve the variances that exist in FlightMemory for the entry of regional flights.

One other thing — I changed your Aircraft Number to the full registration number.

Good idea! I like that one better than comments because it shows up in the Flight Data page, which comments do not. And since we're mostly flying CO, who doesn't have aircraft names for the most part, it's a pretty safe field to use without eliminating other data.

I say we use Aircraft Name as our FlyerTalk handle. That way on the Flight Data page we can see who flew what.

ssullivan, where do you find the full registration?

sdm1130 Jan 2, 2009 10:41 am

Do all of you put flight times in FM? Are you using block times or actual times?

Personally, I just been put the flight number in and ignoring flight times.

If the flight I am on leaves extremely late or is put in a holding pattern and arrives very late, then I'll put the times in. Other than that I just use the block times.

Airfleets.net is a good place to look them up. You can look up the aircraft type, then run a search in your Internet browser for the three digit CO fleet number. When it appears in the last three digits of the N number (be careful because sometimes the 3 digit fleet number appears in the middle three digits of the N number on some other aircraft), that's your full registration number.

I look up times on FlightStats.com and use the runway times, so mine is actual air time, or pretty close to it.

I ignore times and most details all together as you can see. I only enter the info I think I might find useful in the future.

You're making me feel like I'm slacking off! :) At this point, it's not worth going back through years of itineraries and BTS data, but maybe I'll start doing this in the future.

If you don't see the N-number on the aircraft before boarding, you can:

Haha. It's the software consultant in me, probably. I get on clients all the time about quality and consistency of data entry. It's part of my job. :p
