! LH nonstop

Reasons:
  • Don't have to deal with US
  • Longer flight / better sleep via IAD (although it's relatively inconsequential)
  • No chance of mis-connecting in BOS
  • No need for terminal change in BOS (LH and US are in different terminals, right?) It's a huge PIA.
  • Don't have to deal with US

This is a tough decision.

! I would make the change:

! You are still on LH F, and not UA
! You do not have to (1) fly US and (2) change terminals at BOS
! You will likely get more sleep on the IAD-FRA (longer flight, leaves and arrives a bit later)

! I am not particularly interested in new lines or types, though.

! Cost cut? Or do you fund your own office coffeepot?

Not playing along with "talk like CO IT" day.

I actually do many of the weekends without caffeine until making a cup or two of tea (or such) at brunch.

Weekends without caffeine is an unfathomable thought for me.

And one of my coffeemakers is indeed in the faculty lounge.

True.

! Yes, C and D at IAD were supposed to be temporary. Turns out that "temporary" meant "20+ years."

At this rate those temporary concourses are going to outlive some other airport's "permanent" terminal and concourse facilities.

Another reason not to eat at PF Changs.

Doing a search on co.com for IAH-FLL. Search the nearest airport and co.com considers RSW and EYW "nearby" airports?!?!:confused: Nearby in whose drug induced mind?

! Your position, as well as Phudnik's, is the most logical. I really want that BOS-FRA line, but I really would like the extra sleep and overall better convenience that IAD-FRA would provide. I will give myself a bit of time to decide; that F seat ain't goin nowhere.

! I could route through BOS on the return, but the timing is inconvenient (and I would have to fly US again, of course ).

! And yes, I have done the terminal shuffle in BOS several times, with baggage; it thoroughly sucks.

I think the criteria that CO.com uses for nearby is 150 miles. Both EYW and RSW meet that criteria.

I do nearby searches for PHL and get all three WAS airports.

If you look at the map w/ Florida. You might as well include NAS. 150 miles is not nearby, as far as I am concerned. More like 50-100 miles. If you consider PHL, then you would have to consider NYC airports, since they're about 90-100 miles away.

! I'm not saying that it's right by any means, but that's what the site uses, at least as per the advanced booking screen.

! And yes, a nearby search for PHL does return LGA and EWR.

! ETA: New feature. Advanced Search used to have a checkbox of 150 miles or nothing at all. Now it's a dropdown menu with steps of range from 25 to 300 in 25-mile steps.

! this is an excellent feature for planning MRs in my opinion ^ I select 300 miles -- after all, who cares where I end up :p
