Congrats.
We found an outstanding breakfast place in downtown Portsmouth. Kind of a diner place with great things like crab omelets. Can't remember the name but it's hard to miss. It's on the main street, there's a line out the door, and the place is covered inside with all sorts of tackiness. Portsmouth is a nice town to walk around, and the Sheraton is quite convenient for that. It's also worth the short trip across the drawbridge to Kittery for a lobster roll on someone's back deck over the water by their lobster shed on the island. Cross the bridge, hang a right or left down the first street, and you'll see a few houses that have such businesses. Hard to beat a fresh lobster roll (made from a lobster the shack's owner caught) and beer, while sitting on the water watching the boats, served by a local in their backyard, all for about $12. |

This is because you dont pay state income tax or own a home (ie. pay RE taxes or mortgage interest). Your standard deduction is probably greater than itemized.

The one drawback for non 1ks is that UA takes meal orders by status. So, as a 1K i always get my first pick.
Now, if I didn't have status, it would suck. And to think that this time next year all of the tickets around here might be on UA stock and all of the flight numbers might be UA. |

The home part is relevant but some of us do get pretty decent sales tax deductions in lieu of state income tax deductions.
Some of us live in Florida. :) |

Need to fill in the missing concept of "hopped into a rental we picked up this morning with many bonus miles". Congrats on a no-hassle car sale.

I do not have UA status but it does not matter what you pay for the ticket. The service almost always sucks and the aircraft usually are poorly maintained and ratty looking inside.

The video is flawed, actually. They show a 738 for assembly and a 73G for painting and delivery.

I will say that they've been slowly getting better. The international planes are showing some improvement, especially the ones with the new seats.

But IMO there is no way that anybody can change the long-held incurably rotten work habits of the in-flight crews. They belong to the union and you damn well cannot tell them what to do if it is not what they really want to do. |

Getting rid of the 737s also decreased the overall nastiness of the UA mainline domestic flight by a factor of 10.

Even if it isn't quite accurate, I thought it was still a pretty cool video. |
