Dear BP,

My engine seized this morning on my way to work. I had my car towed to the shop and the mechanic said the failure was due to a starfish in the carburetor.

Can you please let me know how I can submit a claim to BP in regards to this matter.

Thanks,

belynch

:rolleyes::cool::D

! LH flight only had one seat left in F, a non-exit row window. 83A, however, is open, but the would not assign it to me over the phone because they claim it has to be done at the airport. This, after I already pre-assigned 83A on my connecting flight over the phone weeks ago. Sounds like it's time to call back and get another rep, or get to the airport extra early tomorrow.

Howdy, Box.

I thought I was going to a focus group this morning. Turned out to be me an 7 folks from the customer and their various support groups. That was interesting. Someone actually cared about my ideas and wanted to hear me talk for two hours, all on my own. And they gave me stuff as a thanks for coming in.

If only I could make a living that way...

She posted last night, I think. Not much prior to that but there was a post in the last 48 hours or so.

I probably shouldn't, just in case.

Typical Luftwaffe BS. I used to fight with them on seat assignments all the time. It's complete nonsense.

Tell them you are :-: Gold, to stop with the shenanigans, and just assign the seat. If you don't meet the "ideal German standard" for occupying the seat, it can be reassigned at the flughafen.

Sounds like spam, doesn't it? Anyone here use http://www.restaurant.com? A friend passed along a tip that if you use the code MEAL at checkout, a $25 gift cert comes out to only $2! Some of these places require a minimum of certain $ to be used, but I was  when I saw how much $ the GC saved. I hope this helps out.

Cool, will have to check it out. Thanks!

! Also makes a great gift for random people (read: coworkers) you don't really want to give a gift to for holidays / birthdays, etc.

Good idea. And if it hadn't been for those certs, tjtenor4 and I wouldn't have had our awesome/crazy Ethiopian dinner in a totally out-of-the-way place in Baltimore - part restaurant, part bar, part lounge room (sitting on a red leather sofa to eat, beads draped from the ceiling, etc). We were two of the only three white people in the place. And I'm not even white. :p

Completely forgot about IAD. Now that's an absolute fail. I know they're pumping loads of money into it, but the thought of connecting there makes me visibly angry.

I had actually never in my life used IAD until this past January. Since then, I've been to/through it a few times, never had any issues. LH lounge is a plus. Maybe I just haven't seen the bad stuff.

+1. Having lived in PHL as an O&D pax, I never really had problems there. Took off in the early morning, and arrived late in the evening. Always avoided the rush.

True. I don't think I've ever connected through PHL, but I have definitely heard some horror stories from those who have that are truly up there with the most  of 'em.

I'm not sure if I've ever completed longer than that, which is the distance of the loop around campus that I do all too infrequently.

It is painful and sadistic, but it's supposed to work. And I'm being subjected to some "positive peer pressure" in the area.

I believe she's been distracted by the selection of appliances to plumb...the depths of Lake Brit, perhaps? :p

! I sent her an SMS on Monday and all is well on her end. She did a MEM run last week and will be traveling for work. And I think she posted yesterday about bathroom fixtures for teh Lake House.

I am finally caught up (Box only, not work) after my trip to SFO. Renard, YHPM, although I really didn't give you any more advice than the good advice you already received here. Sorry to hear about your situation -- I suspect that you may be enough of a pest to convince the hotel to walk someone else, as someone pointed out.

I'm home for 3 days, and then go to LAS for a conference.

When sufficiently distracted (i.e. reading my Kindle and listening to music) I can do 2+ miles on the treadmill at the gym pretty easily. I used to be able to randomly hop on and do a 25 minute 5K without trouble; those days are over.

Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen is a pretty fun book about running. Among other things, it is a quick read, but it also completely will change the way you think about running style, shoes and progress.

Now I've found that not only are they using an older version of our software, which we still support (for only a few more months), but they haven't even applied all patches and updates to it because, according to the IT people, "The users haven't complained about these problems." Come on, people. If we released code that had bugs, regardless of whether your users have complained or not, you have those bugs. Why wouldn't you install the patches as soon as we release them, even if nobody has complained? Why not be proactive here and take care of potential issues, even before someone complains?
