For the life of me I can not explain why this merger isn't really irking me all that much, especially given the likely loss of hub status here on the North Coast.

MBM3 Apr 29, 2010 9:04 am

I suppose my basic travel needs will still be met and I can have easier access to E+, even with my dirt status.

Agreed
I saved a client $160 on a trip from CLE to PHL by taking CO up on their CLE-ORD-EWR-PHL routing . Going home, I could have saved them even more but after working all day, I just wanted to get home so it was the PHL-CLE Kenjet NS for me.

There will still be flights to most business destinations. Even if CO drops LGA and BOS, there will still be AA (and possibly DL) flights to LGA, and FL flies to both from CAK (and might move to CLE if it is de-hubbed). I would expect CO/UA to maintain flights to SFO and LAX (they added them in PIT when US dropped their hub there).

WN might add a little service to destinations that aren't served by another carrier or where there is likely demand and BloFares or their DL equivalent. They might increase service to Florida and LAS if CO cuts it.

If you have to connect internationally anyway, the merger won't make a difference in that respect.

E+ may be hard to come by, though. I was surprised to see only one daily mainline flight (+ 1 or 2 CR7s) from CLE-ORD on UA.

! Now back to "Post like CO IT day."

! IAD FRA currently is two 777s (the 5-something pm and 9:50 pm departures) and a 763 (the 6:53 departure). 763 reward space in C and F tends to open up less than two weeks before departure (or a few days before departure, in the case of F).

Good to know. I'm currently booked through ORD on a 744 but I'd like to go a day earlier.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly on the business destinations and we might even see better service to the left coast.

As for E+, I can deal with the hour to ORD though UA is using a lot of the CRJ700s to CLE at the moment. Plus, I can always leverage DEN as a connecting point over ORD.

I too can see WN increase service and we may even see B6 make an appearance.

What would be really nice is if UA starts dropping heavy metal here again. I loved seeing the 767s and DC10s used on the ORD route between international flights. ^^

Good morning box.

Lady here at work who is expecting a grandchild in September answers her cell phone. It's her daughter-in-law calling to tell her that her ultrasound this morning revealed the baby is going to be a girl. Lady I work with yells out in joy "It's a girl!" to the rest of the room. Then the conversation continues. Apparently daughter-in-law is telling her about other things the doctor told her. Lady I'm working with says into phone "So what's the deal with your cervix?" Then silence as daughter-in-law responds. Then the lady I'm working with says "So the doctor says no sex for the rest of the pregnancy? Oh, I feel sorry for my son. Guess it's going to be like when he was 13 and just had to take care of business on his own."

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

There are just some times when the phone rings that you need to step out of the room and discuss something in private, and not in a room with 7-8 other people sitting there hearing everything you say.

! Sort of, but I witnessed UA F service firsthand when I flew in the bulkhead row of new C a few months back; it's basically C meal service with a fourth entree option, different mediocre wines, larger appetizer and salad, and you get to have both cheese and dessert. The seat is nice, though.

! That said, I don't think I can bring myself to change to it.
