Now we know where the $35M in subsidies that Chicago gave UAUA to relocate everyone from the suburbs into the city went.

I hope so as well as I think competition is great for consumers and drives innovation. That being said, I just do not see how HP's money will make Palm competitve.

I have severed my iTunes relationship with the fine folks at The Onion. Their recycling of material and objectionable ad placement forced me over the edge.

Because palm has a great product, it will now help give confidence of developers to invest in the platform.

EA and gameloft already have, and have some very nice games. The fact that ipod to pre changes can happen in a matter of days it a big ^

HP also wants to get in on the slate game, webOS gives them a very nice base, a LOT leaner than Win7 they had planned to use and will probably launch with initially.

Ahhh, great point about the Slate.

Money isn't going to help Palm, HP's hardware will.

The issue with WebOS is really the lack of desire to make web based applications. We see the same thing with Adobe Air. The adoption rate is just too low.

Now, if HP jumps in the slate game full force, I could see people start wiping the dust off of their WebOS development books.

Of course they used the money to make a deal more attractive for themselves. Tilton and Co. want out in the worst way, so they should have used the money to do something to make the company more attractive. I get that $35MM is chump change in a company that size, but there could have been something...

Interesting tidbit - in the UA standby hierarchy, current and retired company officers have higher standby priority than disserviced passengers.

g'day box. :-:

Looks like my Sat. 752 isn't scheduled for lie-flat. I'm going to keep an eye on the seatmap on this flight as, as of today, only myself and one other person are occupying ELR seats. I just moved over to the row that they keep blocked until 48 hrs. prior to the flight for crew rest () so we both have lie-flat whY seats.

Curious to see if anyone buys into ELR.

I seriously considered reserving the middle seat in my row to try and discourage people from sitting next to me (push them into the other three exit rows) but that's a gamble that I really don't want to lose on. The flight looks pretty full, so they might "op-up" folks to ELR.

If I end-up with lie-flat whY with the rest of the plane being packed, I'm going to officially declare my love for the ELR program. I already like it, as an elite, but this will push me over the edge into unmitigated gushing.

I like ELR but this weekend showed me what can happen when they're overbooked. They'll just put people into those seats. They're still doing the front to back filling as well.

Where ya headed?

I likes my RSX, shame they did away with sporty 2 seaters

So, I would think that Hyatt would also cover you at a comparable hotel nearby and offer you some points. Things must be pretty rough over there to walk a diamond.

Well it is a reminder to me that hotel chains and airlines will throw an elite under the bus if someone representing more revenue comes along.

On a similar yet a unrelated note....It helps put all this merger hysteria into perspective. IMHO it is important to keep decisions regarding choosing an airline or hotel chain and chasing elite status a business decision. It is not some kind of "emotional relationship" or something like that (that's not the right phrase...but you guys know what I mean). Because the company will throw you 'under the bus' and not think twice.

These companies should not complain when the customer 'jumps ship' to save a buck....because they'll throw you under the bus to make a buck. This has to be what they're doing here in my situation.... what they get for the reward stay is lower than a paid stay. (This is at a very expensive resort.)
