I had my fill of Hostels in College, but that looks pretty darn tempting.

Three questions for the Box denizens on the theory that it will generate quicker and better answers here than they will on the general CO forum:

1 - Has anything more been released or known around here about the timing of the CO switch to *A?

2 - Has CO been willing to comp DL Plats to CO Plat?

3 - And will the new Plat qualification on CO move up to 100K or are they thinking of doing what HP did when it bought US and create a fourth tier?

1. It should happen during the 3Q or 4Q of 2009.
2. Yes, CO will now comp DL and NW elites.
3. CO Insider has stated numerous times that raising the elite qualification for plats is not something they are looking at.

Thank you very much, OPFlyer. A switch that late in the year would probably not give me time to requalify unless they made the comp good thru 2/11. If they don't do that, I guess that I will save the comp and the switch for the beginning of 2010.

Ahhh yes, I love UA.

My flight tonight was canceled last evening due to weather. The only flight from ORD to CLE that was canceled, but what can you do. The reschedule was a chuckle - tomorrow night was deemed appropriate, even with me being *A Gold. I give them credit, they happily refunded my fare when I said I would find another way home. Looks like I head down to Midway instead and grab a walkup fare on Southwest.

It should be said that there is outside shot of the *A changeover not totally clearing until 1Q10. I did read that somewhere on here, but the smart money/consensus is what OPFlyer said.

Greetings friends.

I survived my trip up to Canada Jr and thankfully we returned yesterday so we didn't get stuck in the ice mess today.

Thanksgiving went well. I smoked a Turkey, which turned out really good. The Canadians were in awe of my Southern-ness. Next year: deep fried.

Unfortunately, my crew that was filling noon to 6p today banged out with the flu, so now I'm working until midnight. Should be an eventful day between the largest mall in the North East, the NYS Thruway, and the other general knuckle-headness that comes at the end of a long holiday weekend. And what really toasts my muffin is when I agreed to pick-up this shift I failed to consider that the Giants / Redskins game was on at 1.

Tomorrow I'm heading to TYS. If that wasn't bad enough, I'm staying about 45 minutes outside of TYS. What's 45 minutes outside of TYS you ask? NOTHING. I tried looking it up on my GPS and it laughed at me.

baglady, I'm wii sore. You'll understand that sooner or later if you don't already.

Regarding "D:rolleyes:", I hate it too. Let's just call it what the Canuck calls it, -- autism fest 2:rolleyes::rolleyes:9. ;)

Generally speaking, a comp that comes after July 1 is good for the whole of the following year, rather than just through February. So if you comp in July 2009 you should have status through February 2011.

Confirmed. I believe I comped to CO mid July and was granted status for 1.5 years. ^

Today's Question

So, you have a great deal on 717s that are coming available from the greater MKE area. You have always wanted to start an airline and do it better, do it right, and make money while you do it.

Where do you start your airline and why?

For me, I take a page from the HA playbook and island hop in the Carribean, using SJU as a base and focus cities where there are connections to Europe such as AUA, BGI, SXM and CUN. With codeshare agreements, this could provide great feed on both ends.

Much better pax experience than the AA props and much more valuable cargo space with a proven ability for quick turns and high utilization rates.

Your turn!

#2 on the Upgrade list for MSP-IAH on a CR9. Here's hoping.

I see a couple potential issues with your plan. For starters, lots of those routes require negotiating bilateral agreements. That may prove difficult. Plus the operational costs of those 717s are going to be higher than the props. Yes, it'll be a better experience, but if you can't get the cargo or pax then you're losing money even faster.

That being said, if you need some help getting your plan off the ground, let me know. I can move down to SJU or one of the out-stations and do some of the leg work. :D

Good luck.

If NW was still running mostly 319s and 320s on that route, you probably would have been upgraded days ago.

I think Asperger Syndrome is more apt.
