Not that I know of. I was speaking of airline incidents. An AA 763 had to stop in REK, this 737 in Indonesia, and something else I was reading earlier but can't remember what it was.

Central Illinois is mind-numblingly dull. It's like I-80 across Nebraska.

YES. tjtenor4 and I did I-80 from Cheyenne to Cleveland last December (as part of a DEN-DC trip). Nebraska was interminable. I never thought I would be so thrilled to get to Iowa...but at least, there, you get some hills. My dad and I did the I-80 run for a short backpacking trip in Colorado last fall. Growing up, we went to Rocky Mountain NP every couple years, but that was from STL, so it was via I-70. Kansas is slightly less boring than Nebraska, but that's not saying much. |
I dunno, I grew up in IAH so driving anywhere involved crossing Texas, which was generally half the trip. It's about 300 miles across Nebraska; it's 800 miles to ELP from IAH and you're still in Texas.
