It was awful. Page after page of this boring "sport". :D

I'm back -- just finished good workout. ^

Wow, this place took an interesting turn after I left work.

As to the SYR opportunity, during college, we used to make the 30-45 minute drive up there to reach civilization in SYR. How awful was that?

BTW, that reminds me. A friend of mine and his wife run a seasonal outdoor ice rink at a mall near here. They had curling lessons and exhibitions during the Olympics. They will probably do that again -- I may realize my life long dream of curling!

Why do they have to put that kind of temptation on sale in my local supermarket ever week???

Your local Spring Break Jungle Juice might be an option. :D

Good times. ^ I just passed out for a couple of hours, partially because I needed it, and partially because I'd like to have a prayer of making it past halftime of the Cornell-Kentucky game tonight. Go Big Red... :D

There's wine and antibiotics being passed around teh Box if you're interested.

Reminds me of the 10-day bike trip from NJ to DC that I went on last June (and am doing again this year) with a handful of other faculty and 26 sophomores. After we had made camp each night, the adults used to gather with tea mugs and the daily ration of Tylenol PM would be handed out. Apparently some people had trouble getting to sleep in their tents. (I have never had a problem getting to sleep ANYWHERE. :p)

And now for some massive multi-quoting since I was gone all day...

  • 2 nights Glasgow
Not too shabby...

SO. JEALOUS.

Guess I missed the whole NYC/NJ transportation business. I would just like to add a big +1 to the following two points:

IMO, the "horror" of driving in Manhattan is extremely exaggerated. I have absolutely no problem driving in the city.

Be careful with the GPS. Things like the NJT always get keruffled using GPS because the way it splits. Just follow the signs and if you make a mistake it's not the end of the world.

And make sure you get a car with E-Z Pass. Seriously.

I always like to have a general visual picture of the route I'm taking, if I can, before I start driving, even if I have the GPS to talk me through the timing of the directions.

Also, the GPS that I've used (which actually belongs to my parents) often freaks out in Manhattan and becomes pretty useless. I don't know if it's the frequency of the turns or the tall buildings that cut off signal or what.

Tri-boro to Major Degan to the GWB? Death! :-:
BQE to Verrazano? Death! :-:
LIE to Midtown tunnel to Manhatten Driving to the Lincoln tunnel? Death! :-:
Cross Island to the Belt? Double death! Don't even consider this one. :-::-:

M60 to Harlem-125th St. (or Q33 to Roosevelt Ave.) to subway to Penn Station to NJT? :-:

Yeah, I'll be doing that on the Monday after Easter...

Sigh. I might have hauled myself into the city for this if that wouldn't have been the 3rd weeknight this week (concert tomorrow in Brooklyn - driving, ugh - and I have to work Saturday morning. How was it?

I don't know where to even start whining. I've been on conference calls since 9amCDT this morning. And I'm on yet ANOTHER call right now. The rest of this week has been dragging my county government kicking and screaming into the 20th century from an IT perspective. Picture people that barely understand how to use a computer, and now they have to learn how to log in and out every day, etc., etc.... yes, novice users to the extreme.

Best part is I've got 7-8 weeks worth of work that needs to be scheduled and completed by the end of April. Oh, by the way, the soonest I can start doing that work is 5 April.
