I was just a complete 'tard and cancelled an existing prepaid SPG rez, booking another (cheaper) prepaid rez over the top of it. I forgot to check the T&Cs of the more expensive, existing rate before cancelling it. :o

At least I found a $99/night rate at the W New Orleans for a different date to somewhat make up for my total stupidity.

Was it prepaid non cancellable? I've had prepaid rates with SPG that they have refunded me with no problems.

One-night penalty applied for a one-night rez. If it were a longer rez, I would have only paid the one-night penalty. As it stands, that's the entire rez...

I hadn't really had a chance to do to much regarding that. I'm hoping to play around with some WAS-MAD/BCN fares for The Significant Otter's Mardi-Gras break.

Ack! I've done something similar before and been stuck paying for two reservations for the same night.

I also have once, and thankfully only once, booked a new hotel instead of the one I had originally booked for a stay, and then forgotten to cancel the original reservation. We were in Dallas for a weekend back in June and I originally had a reservation at a Hyatt Place for about $125. Then I found a rate a few days later for a Sheraton at $89, and SPG was running quite a few point bonuses at the time, so I switched us to the Sheraton. But then I forgot to cancel the Hyatt reservation and didn't realize it until I was charged on my credit card statement a month later for one night at the Hyatt. The only saving grace? Hyatt gave me the points on that one night as well as the credit for that night. So it wasn't a total loss; I basically bought a few hundred Hyatt Gold Passport points for $125 + tax.

When I was younger , my mom and I stopped in Rome for 1 night on the way home from Switzerland, and she booked 3 hotels , 2 were very good and very expensive and one was really small and had furninture so old it was prob from the Roman Empire.
She decided that we should stay at the smaller hotel and forgot to cancel the other 2 reservations .
The beds were slanted and I woke up with a headache
she totally forgot about the other 2 reservations until she got the credit card bill .

I don't like that the "My Stays" link on the SPG page won't display Points stays that you made over the phone. This is a bit of a problem when you may have 30+ stays booked at any given time. SPG IT is stuck in 1995.

There are plenty of other things not to like about spg.com. "Stuck in 1995" is about right.

I think the PWP should consider running on a platform of Bread, Games & Posts next year. The next thing to figure out will be who's first against the wall during the revolution if we lose.

Speaking of PWP, I'm going to be a minor PW in the next minute to get to 1000 post tonight.
