Hope Roxy is better soon and you get to earn some miles for the event.

I will get to earn close to 800 OnePass miles, but I would rather not earn them.

My dog earned me about that a few months ago. Pets can be good for racking up miles.

I had to earn way to many this weekend but I'm pretty lonesome after that trip.

It's not bad at all. But a hotel night kills it for me.

I used 12,500 HHonors points the night before last for a Hampton Inn in MEM for "staging". FedEx flies a ton of flights at 0300. I tried to use the Hampton Inn in Olive Branch, MS for staging but it was moved from a Category 1 (nee Opportunity) at 7,500 points to a Category 3 (nee Category 2) at 25,000 points per night. I am not making this up.

So now get your butt in gear and knock out some SkyMiles for the team. We need your contribution. ;)

Given my team members are each flying about 25,000 miles during the promotion period ... And I just booked OMA - some of you might remember I had applied for a program to meet a Nobel Laureate.

DUB appears to be the cheapest destination ex-IAH, at $602+ (meh).

I sometimes wish I had booked two BNA-JFK-ZRH-JFK-BNA itineraries on SkyTeam USA last June instead of one (55,000 RDM for just over $300 each), then recall I would have been a "Diamond" with no rollover miles.

Sorry to hear - I did read about your cat (did catch most of teh Box over the last week) but know you'll find a different cat who's special in his/her own way when you're ready.

Sorry to hear about your cat - it stinks when you have to leave a loved one behind.

Really tough since I got sister kittens 16 years ago from our local shelter and lost the first one in Jan. Will have to factor losing my job in a couple of months into the kitteh equation. Still haven't gotten completely over losing my dog 2 years ago either.

I have gotten over losing the 5 year old gold fish though!

Actually I brought her home and freaked out the new neighbors with a shadowy figure digging a hole under the deck late at night.

I fed it once a week (usually), never changed the water but added more when it evaporated. It came from a carnival - the ping pong ball didn't kill it when it was won so it was hardy stock.

With the job uncertainty, have you considered spending a few hours with the local shelter working on socialization and affection for their cats during the slow part of the day?

Many years ago, I ended up with a 5 month old puppy two days after I had to put my 16 year old sheltie down. This time around, there was a 4 month wait and it was lonnnnnng. Granted, I ended up with a super dog but 4 months of walking into a quiet house was :(. Get a kitty.:)

That's a great idea! I was planning on doing some volunteer work during my severance period to try out some new things.

I'm going to start a thread called "looking old & being a general member".
