I'm in the DC area now through mid-October, so I'm hoping one of your happy hours falls during my month here. I'll keep checking the thread.

I hope it's clear that anyone can propose an event, which I'll put on the calendar as soon as I'm told it's definite.
That said, looking at the dates mentioned by the 4 previous posters, the only days that all of you are in DC would appear to be the 6th through the 9th. The only one of those days when I'm here is the 6th. So, I'd propose a happy hour and dinner on Tuesday, October 6.
I assume our out-of-towners would prefer something Metro-accessible. We can do something in DC or maybe something in Clarendon. Which would people prefer? Most of the locals who attend regularly live in Northern Virginia or the District (though we do have some hardy folks from Annapolis who attend pretty frequently as well as two SoFL/NYers who make an effort to attend when they're in town). Traffic here is awful, so scheduling dinner before 6:30 pm is a non-starter given that we come from different directions. Maybe happy hour could start earlier, though.
Any suggestions of particular restaurants? In terms of price range, I'd suggest something moderate - entrees say between $9 and $15.
Please post to the thread if you're interested.

After further consideration, I have decided to alter my proposal. I will be happy to organize either a dinner at Belga Cafe in DC on Sunday, October 4, or a dinner at the Boulevard Woodgrill in Clarendon, VA on Tuesday, October 6.
Belga Cafe is located in SE DC, near the Eastern Market Metro Station on the Blue and Orange lines. Belga Cafe has - surprise - Belgian food. The Boulevard Woodgrill is near the Clarendon stop on the Orange line. Boulevard Woodgrill has American cuisine with a beef and seafood focus. Both restaurants have menus available online. If you've had a bad experience at either of these restaurants, or have a different restaurant you can strongly recommend (preferably in DC on Sunday and Clarendon on Tuesday), let me know and I'll consider changing the location. Be aware that Sunday Metro schedules can result in long delays between trains; also, the Orange line on Tuesday night might be somewhat crowded leaving DC. The price point for Boulevard Woodgrill is probably $18 to $22; steak is higher. For Belga Cafe, entrees are probably $18 to $25.
I would propose dinner around 6:30 on either Sunday or Tuesday. Please let me know your preference, and I'll make a final decision by this weekend.

Tuesday night works for me. At first I thought you were talking about Belgo, one of my favorite restaurants in London! Both restaurants sound good, so I'll just go along with the crowd.

I'm available on both nights. I can go to the Belga Cafe on Sunday or the Boulevard Woodgrill on Tuesday.

i'm going to be in dc exploring the job market from 9/30-10/9 and staying with goalie-sis (alexandria, va) and goalie-aunt 'n uncle (germantown, md) so i'm wondering how close/far both of the venues are from both goalie-sis and goalie-aunt 'n uncle (and i will probably be driving)

10/3 - Annapolis MD - Boatyard Bar & Grill (subject to change if I receive enough complaints on the choice/location) - say 4pm? There's a bar on site for pre-food cocktails and it's within walking distance of the Annapolis harbor area. We'd suggest earlier but I'm taking Ms. UNHBuzzard on her first segment run in the am. ^

Without knowing where in Alexandria you'd be coming from, it's hard to give directions or estimate distances. It's definitely true that anywhere in Alexandria is closer to both venues than Germantown would be. Hope this helps.

Germantown's a long way from either location, but probably equidistant to the two. Driving into the District or NoVA from the NW Maryland 'burbs could be done via surface streets, but it would probably be faster if you used the following: You'd probably need to come down I-270, get on the Beltway (I-495) heading south, cross into VA, take the George Washington Parkway to the 14th Street Bridge (I-395), into DC, then exit at 8th Street, SE, drive north, and park. To get to Clarendon, you'd exit the GW Parkway at the Spout Run Parkway, turn left onto Lee Hwy, then turn right on Highland, continue south to Wilson Blvd., and look for parking.
