Thanks! I'm looking forward to being back -- it's been 3 1/2 years. I ran into FlyinHawaiian in the LH lounge at IAD last week and he mentioned that the D.C. FTers get together quite a bit and are a good group! Can't wait to get to know you guys.

Welcome aboard

I subscribe and read the happy hour thread - I see all that I miss - but my job just doesn't really allow more than last minute scheduling. If I can get away from my desk (or hotel room), can I just try my luck for an extra seat on the day of and see what happens? (all without annoying the wait staff too much)

Cheers

Bummer, I will be en route to Belgium then.. However, I can heartily vouch for Belga Cafe, of your list below!

The Old Siam: Thai food

My suggestions: I have not tried Belga Cafe or Jordan's 8 however, both places have good menus. I would like to try one of these. The Old Siam has good Thai food in a modern setting.

Preferences anyone?

It's not unusual to have last minute cancellations (though probably less so on weekends), and I usually alert the restaurant that there may be one more or one fewer than the number for which I make a reservation. If you can give me a head's up (via pm or email sent through FT) even a couple of hours before that's a great help. I'll list you as possible.

I just called and made a reservation for a party of 15 on Sunday, November 22, at 6:00 pm (that was the latest I could make a reservation for a group our size). The bar will be open (I think from 4:00 pm or maybe earlier) for folks who arrive early.

We currently have 15 people interested and one possible. I'll move the 15 from interested to confirmed and put our possible on standby. Anyone else expressing interest will go on the waitlist. I told the person with whom I spoke that I'd call with an updated count by Saturday, November 21, so please post to the thread if your status changes.

If there are more than 15 people interested, I'll see about expanding the reservation, but I thought it best to make a reservation for a party of 15 as long as they'd let me.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

I'll try to set something up for noon-ish on Sunday, 13 December, if that works for you, boxo. Any preferences? Maybe something in Crystal City or Pentagon City?

I'm coming back... again

I'll be back in the DC area next week; Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 9 & 10 if anyone is interested in meeting for drinks/dinner either evening. I'm staying in the Crystal City area with Metro connectivity. (no car)

I could do dinner on Monday. Tuesday, I leave for BKK. I'd probably suggest King Street Blues (I think you may have been there before), which is off Crystal Drive between 15th and 18th Streets. Underground parking is free in the evening, and the restaurant is accessible by Metro without going outdoors.

What time would work best?

Thanks! At this point, the only thing I have to do is see the White House Christmas tree, so am open to whatever will bring the most FTers out. Is that going for quantity over quality? Have not booked a place to sleep yet. Will keep you posted.

King Street Blues is fine. Violist and I ate there when I was in the area once before. Does 7pm work for you? I'm flexible.
Thanks.
