In retrospect, is your FT name a mistake?

My name comes from the boring old surname, first initial, max 8 character rule for IT logins. It's generally available everywhere.
An amazing (to me!) number of people think it refers to a car model - apparently Ford makes a "Falcon EA" and frankly, I do find that a little annoying!
All through my message-writing life (since Fidonet in 1990) I've signed my name to my messages. And even though it's not standard, I do so here too.
Do I care if anyone can work out who I am? No!

Very interesting topic.
I also feel not as anonymous as I might like.
With everything I've posted, a determined stalker could probably find me.
(No idea why anyone would want to, of course...)
Like you dgwright99 if I had known how much time I would spend here and how many identifiable details I would post here, I would probably have used a more obscure name.
Of course, more than anything it's probably limited how much I'll get into debates in OMNI, so maybe not so terrible...
Since we're talking about names, I just wanted to mention ^. I've always gotten a good chuckle out of your name. Wish I had thought of it...

Mine wasn't such a good idea in retospect. When I signed up I didn't envisage it becoming such a "hobby", and so I just used my old aol ID, as it was easy to remember - much as I have for all sorts of bulletin boards I have casually signed up to over the years, and occasionally check in to - like AVSforum, for example.
Now, however, with 1000+ posts under my belt, I'm not as anonymous as I might like - and it does make me think twice about posting sometimes, and I have had cause to regret a few of my late night Omni posts, and even gone back and deleted one or two.

It's funny that you mentioned the personal brand -- I just went to a seminar on that (corporate sponsored *shrug*). I hope my friends/family/colleagues/acquaintances always see me as "intrepid."
Oh - and 720 is for the date of the first moon landing, as I am also a human spaceflight geek. :-:

My FT handle is not a mistake. Like it implies, I am all set to travel. Will continue to use it as long as I keep on traveling.
