In retrospect, is your FT name a mistake?

My handle was born (my first post) at the inaugural FT QF Board meet back in Feb 2003, after a lot of alcohol was inbibed by the participants (yes, there are photo's).
To understand our Aussie humour, see this post to explain what my handle means
).
After 5.5 years as a WP, I fell to SG this year and some unkind FT'ers
think I should relinquish my handle
. I'm trying hard to make it back to my former position

But it is good to know Jailer made it. :-:As for Stimpy, ya know how something seems cute and funny at the time, but the next day it's well, sooooo yesterday? That's Stimpy 9 years later.

Defintely misnamed. I was new to the internet and very new to Flyertalk when I signed on just a few months after the startup. I wanted Karen but the website said there was another one. As it turns out, I never have seen a post in all these years by Karen. Not thinking, just wanting to participate, I took Karen2. All these years I have wanted something more creative but was unwilling to give up my status and longevity to make the change. Alas...

My handle was a bit of a mistake.
I think I have a handle whose allusions are time dependent. I was
a big fan of Sammy Sosa. He's not playing anymore, and I'm still
a big Chicago Cubs fan. I don't mind the association, but I feel
the handle is rather dated. I won't change it though.
One story - I've seen the Cubs play in 15 stadiums in the 21st
century, and one challenge is to get to as many interleague games
as possible. Last year, I flew to Dallas from Chicago, and my daughter
in Boston joined me, to see the Cubs play the Texas Rangers. It was
actually the first time I'd bought airline tickets exclusively for a Ball
Game (with no meetings or relatives to see.) It turned out to be the
first game the Cubs ever played against Sammy Sosa.

No mistake on my part; one of the few pronounceable letter strings that has no meaning.
Google it and you mainly get my posts (and a few links to a couple of counterfeits
).

No matter where life may take me, Saipan will always be a part of who I am.
I've lived in the CNMI since the end of 1990. I met my wife here, and we are raising our family on Saipan. The vast majority of my current professional career has been here.
Even if I should relocate to the mainland U.S., or retire in the Philippines, SPN Lifer remains a very appropriate FlyerTalker name.

Hey there! Don't hang around CommunityBuzz very often, but thought I'd chime in.
I think I posted once somewhere that my handle was created by a childhood friend who noticed one day that my initials, sounded out, roughly formed the word "jackal."
It's become my handle for any forum in which I wish to remain somewhat anonymous, but a mild tinge of regret washes over me occasionally, since the Urban Dictionary has a definition of a jackal as "[a] dievious or mishchievous person; someone who wishes ill-fate upon another." I'm not like that at all (I'm about the polar opposite), and I hope people don't assume I am.
But not really having any creative ideas for an alternate semi-anonymous handle, I guess I'll stick with mine...
